Usage Features:
The Firebox T45-PoE features several indicators on its front panel to provide status information:
- Failover Indicator: Lit when there is a WAN failover from the primary external interface to the backup interface. It turns off when the connection fails back to the primary interface.
- WAP Indicator (T45-W-PoE only): Lit when the appliance acts as a wireless access point or client. Yellow indicates the 2.4 GHz radio band, and green indicates the 5 GHz radio band. The light blinks to show data transmission, with increased blink speed indicating higher data flow.
- Network Interface Status Indicators (1000 Yellow / 10/100 Green): Each of the five network interfaces has two status indicators.
- On: Indicates link speed (1000 Mbps for yellow, 10 or 100 Mbps for green).
- Blinking: Indicates data being sent and received, with blink speed increasing with data flow.
- Status Indicator: Lit for 30 seconds after a management connection is established via Fireware Web UI or CLI, or when polled by WatchGuard System Manager.
- Mode Indicator: Green when the device can connect to the external network and send traffic. Flashes if the device cannot send traffic.
- Attn Indicator: Yellow when the device is started with the Reset button pressed (used for factory-default settings restoration).
- Power Indicator: Green when the Firebox is powered on.
Rear panel features include:
- Serial Port (Console): An RJ45 serial console port for direct management (cable not included).
- USB Interfaces: Two USB 3.0 ports for USB backup and restore, or for storing support snapshots.
- Network Interfaces: Five RJ45 Ethernet connectors supporting 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps link speeds. Interface 4 is PoE+ compliant.
- Reset Button: Used to reset the device to factory-default settings.
- Power Switch: Controls power to the device (position 1 for on, 0 for off).
- Power Input: Connects to the included AC power adapter.
Maintenance Features:
- Restore Factory-Default Settings: If configuration issues arise or the administrator passphrase is lost, the device can be reset to factory defaults. This involves powering off, holding the Reset button, powering on, waiting for the Attn indicator to flash, releasing the button, waiting for the Attn indicator to stay lit, then powering off and on again.
- AC Power Adapter: The device uses a specific AC power adapter. To safely disconnect, slide the black plastic external housing away from the Firebox to expose the internal silver metal connector, then pull to disconnect. The SKU suffix indicates the type of power plug included (US, UK, EU, AU), but adapters can be used if the country's plug type is not included.
- Rack Mount Installation (Optional): An optional kit allows installation in a network rack, with a shelf for the power adapter. This involves attaching rack ears to the bottom of the Firebox, placing the power adapter on the shelf, and securing it with plastic ties.
- Wall Mount Installation (Optional): An optional wall mount plate allows the Firebox to be mounted on a wall to optimize wireless range. This requires four screws (1/8" wide, 3/4" long) to secure the plate, then aligning and pushing the Firebox onto the plate until it seats firmly.
- Safety Precautions:
- Install indoors in a secure, locked area.
- Connect to a conditioned power supply.
- Do not place other devices directly on the Firebox, especially if rack-mounted.
- Ensure adequate airflow and avoid obstructing ventilation openings.
- Do not push objects into slots or openings.
- Disconnect AC power before removing the Firebox cover.
- Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced incorrectly; dispose of used batteries according to manufacturer instructions.
- Ensure proper grounding for rack-mounted equipment.
- Avoid circuit overloading when connecting to power supply circuits.
