What to do if Waters 1500 is not delivering eluent due to pump cavitation?
    • T
      tiffany57Aug 18, 2025
If your Waters Water Pump is not delivering eluent due to pump cavitation, which can arise from several factors: eluent reservoirs positioned at or below the height of the pump, loose, bent, or blocked inlet tubing, improperly degassed eluent, a dirty eluent reservoir inlet filter, volatile eluents in pump head, or tubing ID too small, perform the following corrective action: Raise eluent reservoirs above the pump. Inspect tubing. Tighten, straighten, or replace tubing. Verify degasser operation. Replace filter. Prime pump. Use correct tubing. For a ruptured high-pressure noise filter, defective pump motor or defective circuit board, contact Waters Technical Service.

Why won't my Waters 1500 Water Pump run?
    • Y
      ywilkersonAug 22, 2025
If your Waters Water Pump isn't running, first ensure the power cable is properly connected to both the power source and the pump. Then, confirm the outlet is functional by testing it with another electrical unit known to be working. If that unit doesn't work, relocate the pump to a functioning electrical outlet. Also, check the fuses and replace them if they are blown.

What causes low pressure in a Waters 1500 Water Pump?
    • T
      Timothy ContrerasAug 31, 2025
Low pressure in your Waters Water Pump can be attributed to several causes. The pump flow rate might be set too low; set it to the correct flow rate. The low-pressure limit could be set too high; set the low-pressure limit to the correct value. An empty eluent reservoir will also cause low pressure; fill the reservoir. Air in the eluent lines is another possible cause; prime the pump. Ensure the correct eluent is used, and change it if necessary. Visible leaks can also lead to low pressure; carefully tighten any loose fittings. Lastly, a change in ambient temperature can affect pressure; stabilize the operating temperature.

How to resolve a leak from the Waters 1500 head?
    • S
      stacy47Sep 4, 2025
To resolve a leak from the Waters Water Pump head, several steps can be taken. Start by replacing any defective plunger seals. If the plunger is worn, replace it as well. Ensure the pump head is not loose by tightening the two pump head screws equally, being careful not to overtighten. Also, check the inlet or outlet check valve for looseness and tighten them, again avoiding overtightening. Inspect fittings and ferrules for wear and replace if necessary.

What causes high system pressure due to Waters 1500?
    • T
      tiffanymosesSep 8, 2025
High system pressure due to your Waters Water Pump can be caused by the pump flow parameter being set too high; set the correct flow parameter value. For a pressure transducer out of adjustment or defective, contact Waters Technical Service.

How to fix a leak from the draw-off valve on a Waters 1500?
    • L
      Latoya WhiteheadSep 12, 2025
To fix a leak from the draw-off valve on your Waters Water Pump, first, close the draw-off valve. If the leak continues, replace the valve.

What to do if my Waters Water Pump is not delivering eluent?
    • J
      Jennifer AvilaNov 14, 2025
If your Waters Water Pump is not delivering eluent, several factors could be responsible. The draw-off valve might be open or leaking; close the draw-off valve, and if eluent still leaks, replace the valve. The pump low-pressure limit may be set higher than the operating pressure; set it to the correct low-pressure limit. The flow rate could be set to zero; set the desired pump flow rate. The pump might not be primed; prime the pump. Immiscible eluents in the pump head can also cause this issue; purge the pump with appropriate eluents and verify miscibility of eluents being used, then change to more miscible eluents. A dirty or malfunctioning inlet or outlet check valve could be the problem; try to isolate it. Varying pressure/flow usually indicates an outlet check valve problem. Try loose...

Why is there high pressure in my Waters 1500?
    • T
      travisnancyNov 24, 2025
High pressure in your Waters Water Pump can occur for several reasons. The pump flow rate might be set too high; if so, set it to the correct flow rate. The high-pressure limit could be set too low; in that case, set the high-pressure limit to the correct value. A blocked column can also cause this issue; clean the column according to the column care and use manual. Alternatively, a blocked mixer may be the problem; backflush or disassemble the mixer. The use of viscous eluents can also lead to high pressure; verify eluent viscosity and, if necessary, change to a less viscous eluent. A blocked outlet tubing or fluid path (in pump outlet, detector, column, or injector) can cause high pressure; locate the source of blockage and clean or replace tubing. Finally, a change in ambient temperatur...

How to fix erratic flow rate or pump pulsations in Waters Water Pump?
    • D
      Deborah RayNov 27, 2025
To address erratic flow rate or pump pulsations in your Waters Water Pump: First, ensure the pump is properly primed. If using a volatile eluent like hexane, prime the pump with a miscible, less volatile eluent such as THF or methanol, and disconnect the column to avoid disrupting equilibrium. Refill the reservoir if it's low or out of eluent, remembering to filter and degas the eluent. If there's an air bubble in the pump head, prime the pump to remove it, ensure there are no air bubbles in the inlet lines, and degas the eluents. Inspect lines for blockages and replace the inlet filter frit if needed. If the pump plunger seal is leaking under the pump head, replace it. If the pump plunger is worn, replace the plunger. For dirty or malfunctioning check valve(s), try to isolate the problem....
