CARBON POST FILTER
e lter contains water washed granular activated carbon (GAC) produced
from organic coconut shell that is tested and certied to be California Prop
65 compliant.
Post ltration is used as a nal treatment to eectively remove volatile
organic compounds (VOCs). It signicantly reduces trihalomethanes,
synthetic organic compounds such as pesticides and hydrocarbons, and
petrochemical byproducts such as benzene, toluene, and methyl tertiary-
butyl ether (MTBE).
Preparation
1. Wash your hands with soap and warm water.
2. Remove lter from plastic bag.
3. Fill a clean container with distilled or boiled tap water.
4. Slowly immerse a narrow end of the lter bag into the water.
5. Once the bottom quarter (¼) is wet, slowly immerse entire bag,
squeezing gently to remove air. If the bag “pus up,” you are immers-
ing it too quickly.
6. After the bag has been immersed, remove from the water and rinse it
by pouring more distilled or boiled tap water over bag to remove any
carbon nes (dust).
Installation
1. Be sure carbon is evenly distributed within bag, then place bag in lter
compartment (g. B).
2. Replace cover on compartment and place lid on carafe.
3. Discard rst gallon of distilled water as it may contain some harmless
matter from manufacturing and/or packaging.
