Do you have a question about the Watts PVi CEN 1600 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The PVI Centurion modulating and condensing water heater is an advanced hydronic system designed for high efficiency and environmental compliance, suitable for both natural gas and propane gas. It features an Edge® [ii] Controller for precise operation, adjustment, and troubleshooting.

Function Description:

The Centurion water heater modulates its energy input to match fluctuating system loads, ensuring high efficiency. It can be used in singular or modular arrangements and supports various vent configurations, including Room Combustion Air (Vertical/Horizontal Discharge) and Ducted Combustion Air (Vertical/Horizontal Discharge). The internal recirculation water loop, with a recirculation pump, provides feed-forward temperature control by mixing hot water outlet with cold water inlet, allowing the Edge Controller to modulate the fire rate and maintain the selected setpoint temperature.

It provides multi-function bar displays (Fire Rate, Valve Position), configurable temperature read-outs (Inlet/Setpoint, Outlet/System Header), and operation mode indicators (Demand/Manual, Manager/Client).
  • Password Protection: Multiple levels of access (No password, Routine maintenance, Master Technicians) to prevent unauthorized changes.
  • Start Sequence: Includes checks for high water temperature, high/low gas pressure, low water level, and Safety Shut-Off Valve (SSOV) Proof of Closure (POC) switches. Initiates a purge cycle, followed by spark cleaning and ignition.
  • Start/Stop Levels: Factory preset Air/Fuel Valve positions for starting (24%) and stopping (18%) the unit, and ignition (35%).
  • Operating Modes:
    • Constant Setpoint Mode: Allows users to set a desired temperature for standalone units.
    • Remote Setpoint Mode: Adjusts the setpoint based on a remote signal (e.g., 4-20 mA, 1-5 V, BAS, Network, 0-20 mA, 0-5 V, PWM Input).
