CRAFTED Grates and Frame. They
can be purchased separately on

✓ Be sure to set aside a few hours to
season the Flat Top before your first
cook.
How to Season Your Flat Top
Before your first cook, you must
season your Flat Top. This fills
pores in the Flat Top’s surface with
polymerized oil that creates a stick-
resistant, protective coating.
A well-seasoned Flat Top will be dark
black from edge to edge. So season
your Flat Top at least three times
before your first cook. A little extra
care up front will pay o in delicious
eggs, pancakes, burgers and fajitas
for years to come.
1. Handwash the Flat Top in warm,
soapy water, scrubbing vigorously
with a nylon bristle brush or
sponge. Thoroughly dry.
NOTE: This will be the ONLY TIME
you use soap and water on your
Flat Top.
2. Remove the Grate on the righthand
side of grill.
3. Preheat your grill to 400°–500°F.
4. Using a paper towel, apply 1
tablespoon of a neutral oil (like
canola, vegetable, or grapeseed) to
all the surfaces of your Flat Top.
5. Wipe o any excess oil so it appears
dry.
6. Wearing grill gloves or mitts, place
the Flat Top within the Frame.
7. Heat the Flat Top for 30 minutes.
The surface will begin to smoke and
darken in spots.
8. Grip a paper towel in grill tongs
to wipe away any uneven spots or
drips of oil. The seasoning has set
when the smoking has stopped.
NOTE: Keep paper towels away
from flames and extreme heat.
NOTE: Do not remove the Flat Top
until it is cool to the touch.
9. Repeat steps 4-8 two more times in
order to build the seasoning.
NOTE: The the first cook after
seasoning, we recommend fattier
foods like bacon or burgers
to continue building layers of
seasoning.
Grilling Instructions
Once the WEBER CRAFTED Grates and
Frame are installed:
1. If raised, lower or remove the
warming rack before using your
Flat Top.
2. Remove the cooking grate (A) and
place the Flat Top within the WEBER
CRAFTED Frame (B).*
3. Place Spacer between the Flat Top
and front of the cookbox (C).
4. Preheat your grill for approximately
20-25 minutes with Flat Top in
place.
5. While the grill is preheating, oil
your food. If it cannot be oiled,
use a basting brush to apply oil or
butter to the Flat Top surface before
adding your food.
6. Once preheated, add your food and
continue with recipe.
* For WEBER smart grills, avoid contact
with the temperature probe in the back
of the cookbox.
NOTE: Do not use the sear burner
with the Flat Top.
NOTE: Your Flat Top gets much
hotter than what the grill
thermometer reads, so do not
exceed 500°F. Doing so could
damage the seasoning you’ve
worked so hard to build up.
Caring for Your Flat Top
• Clean after each use.
• With the burners o and the Flat
Top still warm, pour a little bit of
water on the surface. Then use
a spatula to scrape away food
residue.
• The Flat Top is NOT dishwasher
safe.
• Do not immerse your Flat Top in
water.
• Rub a few drops of cooking oil
evenly over entire surface with a
paper towel before storing.
• More seasoning will develop the
more you cook with your Flat Top.
With more seasoning the Flat Top
will continue to get darker and will
give you an even greater stick-
resistant surface.
• Between grilling seasons, if you
don’t think you’ll be using your Flat
Top for a while, season it another
time before storing it away.
