SAFETY RULES
WARNING: When using electric
gardening appliances, basic safety pre-
cautions should always be followed to re-
duce the risk of fire, electric shock, and
serious injury. Read and follow all
instructions.
SAFETY INFORMATION
ON THE UNIT
This power unit can be dangerous! Opera-
tor is responsibl e for foll owing the warnings
and i nstr uct ions in this manual and on t he
uni t. Read enti re ins tr u cti o n ma nual befo re
using unit! Be thoroughly familiar with the
control s and t he proper use of the unit. Re-
stri ct the use of thi s uni t to persons who
read, under stand, and fol low unit and
manual warning and instr ucti on s. Neveral-
low children to operate this unit. Cl ose
attenti on is necessary when used near
children.
DANGER: Never use blades orflail-
ing devices. Unit is designed for line trim-
mer use only. Use of any other accesso-
ries or attachments will increase the risk
of injury.
WARNING: Trimmer line throws
objects violently. You and others can be
blinded/injured. Wear safety glasses,
boots, and leg protection. Keep body
parts clear of rotating line.

OPERATOR SAFETY
S Dress properl y. Always wear safety
gl asses or sim il ar eye pr otecti on when
operati ng or per f orm ing maintenance on
your unit. (Saf et y glasses are available. )
Alwa ys wear f ace or dust mask if opera-
tion is dusty. Al w ays wear heavy, long
pants, long sle ev es, boo ts, and gloves.
Do not go bar ef oot or wear sandals.
S Secure hair above shoulder length.
Secure or remove loose clothing an d
jewelry or clothing with loosely hanging
ties, straps, tassels, etc. They can be
caught in moving parts.
S Being fully covered also helps protect
you from debris and pieces of toxic
plants thrown by spinning line.
S Stay aler t. Do not ope rat e unit when you
ar e tir e d, ill , upset or under the inf luence
of alcohol, drugs, or medication. Watch
what you are doing; use comm on sense.
S Avoid unintentional starting of the unit.
Never carry unit with your finger on the
switch. Be sure the switch is in
OFF
position and never touch the switch
when con necting extension cord.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
WARNING: Avoid a dangerous en-
vironment. To reduce the risk of electri-
cal shock, d o not us e in rain, in damp or
wet locations, or around swimming
pools, hot tubs, etc. Do not expose to
snow, rain, or water to avoid the possibil-
ity of electrical shock.
S Use a voltage supply shown on unit.
S A void d ange rous situati o ns. Do not use
in the presence of flammable liquids or
gases to avoid cr eati ng a fir e or explo-
sio n and/or causing damage t o unit .
S To r edu ce the risk of ele ct ri ca l shock, this
appliance has a polar i zed plug (one
blade is wider than the ot her) and will re-
quir e the use of a polar i zed extension
cord. The appliance plug will fit into a po-
larized extensi on cord onl y one way. If
the plug d oes not fit fully into the e xten-
sion cord, rever se t he plug. I f the plug stil l
does not fit, obtai n a corr ect polari zed ex-
ten sion cord. A polar ized extension cor d
will require the use of a polarized wall
outle t. This plug wi l l fit into the polari zed
wall outlet only one way. If plug does not
fit fully into the wall outlet, reverse the
plug. If the plug sti l l does not fit , contact a
qualified electrician to install the proper
wal l outl et. Do not change the equipmen t
plug, ext ension cord receptacle, or ex-
tension cor d pl ug i n any way.
S To reduce risk of electrical shock, use
extension cords specifically marked as
suitable for outdoor ap pliances having
