Overview

The Weider 8630 Training System is a versatile home gym designed to develop major muscle groups, improve body tone, build muscle size and strength, and enhance cardiovascular fitness. This multi-station training system features two independent weight stacks, allowing for a wide range of exercises targeting different parts of the body.

Function Description:

The Weider 8630 Training System provides multiple exercise stations to work various muscle groups. It includes a high pulley station, ab pulley station, low pulley station, press arm, butterfly arms, and a leg press station. Users can perform exercises such as lat pulldowns, triceps pushdowns, abdominal crunches, chest presses, butterfly flyes, leg extensions, leg curls, and leg presses. The system is designed for home use and is not intended for commercial, rental, or institutional settings.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model No.: WESY8630C4
  • Assembled Dimensions: Height: 78 inches, Width: 64 inches, Length: 70 inches.
  • Weight Stacks: The system features two weight stacks. One stack is connected to the ab, upper, and lower pulley stations, while the other is connected to the fly and press arms and the leg press.
  • Weight Setting Range: The weight setting for each stack can be adjusted from 6.5 pounds (top weight) to 106.5 pounds, in increments of 12.5 pounds.
  • Resistance Levels: A detailed weight resistance chart is provided, indicating the approximate resistance at each exercise station, which may vary due to cable and pulley mechanics. For example, the press arm resistance ranges from 27 lbs (top weight) to 240 lbs (8 plates), butterfly arm from 20 lbs to 173 lbs, leg lever from 9 lbs to 90 lbs, high pulley from 10 lbs to 123 lbs, low pulley from 10 lbs to 120 lbs, leg press from 52 lbs to 410 lbs, and ab pulley from 10 lbs to 124 lbs.
  • Cables: The system utilizes woven cables that may stretch slightly when first used.
  • Pulleys: Various pulleys (3 1/2" and "V" pulleys) are used throughout the system for cable routing.
  • Hardware: The assembly requires various bolts, nuts, washers, caps, and retainers of different sizes (e.g., 5/16" x 2 1/2" carriage bolts, 3/8" nylon locknuts, 1" retainers).

Usage Features:

  • Weight Adjustment: To change the weight setting, a Weight Pin (93) is inserted under the desired Weight (90). The pin should be fully inserted until its bent end touches the Weights, then turned downward.
  • Attachments: The Lat Bar (36) and Nylon Strap (96) can be attached to both the High Pulley Station and Low Pulley Station using a Cable Clip (33). A Chain (34) can be used to adjust the length of the attachment for proper starting position.
  • Ab Strap: The Ab Strap (35) attaches to the Low Cable (86) at the ab pulley station with a Cable Clip (33).
  • Seat Adjustment: The Seat (17) can be attached to the Rear Seat Frame (16) and Ab Upright (1) using a carriage bolt and seat knob. It can also be removed for certain exercises.
  • Leg Lever: To use the Leg Lever (15), the seat must be attached to the front upright. The Chain (34) connects the Low Cable (86) to the Eyebolt (79) on the leg lever.
  • Leg Press Plate Adjustment: The Leg Press Plate (11) can be adjusted by removing the Lock Pin (73) from the Adjustment Tube (10), aligning the holes in the Leg Press Arm (9) with the desired holes in the Adjustment Tube, and re-inserting the Lock Pin. The hook on the Lock Pin must be clipped in place.
  • Safety: Users are instructed to always wear athletic shoes, keep children under 12 and pets away, and ensure cables remain on pulleys. If pain or dizziness occurs, exercising should stop immediately.

Maintenance Features:

  • Inspection: All parts should be inspected and tightened often. Worn parts must be replaced immediately.
  • Cleaning: The training system can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild non-abrasive detergent. Solvents should not be used.
  • Cable Tightening: Woven cables may stretch, causing slack. To tighten, insert the weight pin into the middle of the weight stack. Slack can be removed by tightening specific nylon locknuts (e.g., 1/4" Nylon Locknut (44) for Press Cable (88) and High Cable (85)) or by reattaching pulleys and cable traps to different holes in brackets. Cables should not be overtightened, as this can lift the top weight off the stack.
  • Cable Twisting: If a cable frequently slips off pulleys, it may be twisted and should be removed and re-installed.
  • Lubrication: Specific points, such as the insides of the holes in the Top Weights (24), the 3/8" x 3 1/4" Bolt (71) for the Leg Press Arm (9), the 3/8" x 8" Bolt (52) for the Press Frame (12), and the axles on the Butterfly Frame (3), require lubrication. The Leg Lever (15) pivot point also needs lubrication.
  • Replacement Parts: Replacement parts can be ordered by calling customer service and providing the model number, serial number, and key number/description of the part.
