OPERATION
POWERING ON & OFF
WARNING! Before powering ON the machine, make
sure that it will not come in contact with any foreign
objects during start up. Keep your hands and feet away
from the rotating tines / blades.
1. Press the tab on the front of the battery cover. Install the
batteries (Fig. 7 - 1) and connect the safety key (Fig. 7 - 2).
NOTE: The tool will not start if the safety key is not con-
nected.
1. To power ON the dethatcher / scarifier, press the safety
lock button (Fig. 8 - 1) on the side of the upper handle with
one hand. At the same time, pull the switch handle (Fig.
8 - 2) towards the upper handle with your other hand. The
safety lock and the switch handle must be engaged at the
same time for the machine to power ON.
2. Release the safety lock button and use both hands to hold
the switch handle against the upper handle.
To power OFF the dethatcher / scarifier:
1. Gently release the switch handle and let the tines / blades
come to a complete stop.
2. Remove the batteries and the safety key from their termi-
nals once you’ve completed operation.
WARNING! The tine cylinders continue to run after
releasing the switch handle. DO NOT tilt or carry the unit
while the tines are still in motion. Do not touch the cylin-
der until it has come to a complete stop.

GENERAL OPERATION
1. Double check that the accessories are secure before be-
ginning operation.
2. Mark any sprinkler heads, lights, or other landscaping
fixtures before beginning. Remove any hoses or other ob-
stacles from the lawn.

3. Push the machine forward by its handle.
4. Make sure that all air vents are kept clean and unobstructed. Blocked air vents can lead to overheating.
5. Make sure the lawn is clear of stones, sticks, wire, or other objects that could damage the machine.
6. Do not work on a wet lawn.
7. Slowly push the machine forward. Move the machine at an appropriate speed. Do not push the machine too hard.
This can cause overload or blockage of discharge.
8. Work in slight overlapping rows. The most effective pattern for scarifying / raking lawns is straight lines along one
of the sides. This will keep the rows even and ensure that no areas are missed (Fig. 9).
