The Wertheim Pro SoftTouch Garment Steamer (model GS6200) is a household appliance designed for efficiently removing wrinkles from garments using steam. It is not intended for industrial use.

Function Description:

The garment steamer works by generating hot steam, which is then directed onto fabrics to relax fibers and smooth out wrinkles. It features a steam head with a fabric brush attachment for various garment types, a garment hanger with trouser clips for easy steaming, and an adjustable extension pole. The device is designed for ease of use and mobility, featuring universal wheels.

Usage Features:

The steamer is equipped with several features to enhance its usability:

  • Steam Head and Fabric Brush: The primary tool for applying steam to garments. The fabric brush is ideal for steaming delicate garments.
  • Cradle: Provides a secure resting place for the steam head when not in use.
  • Garment Hanger with Trouser Clips: Allows users to hang garments directly on the steamer for convenient wrinkle removal.
  • Insulated Handle: Ensures safe handling during operation.
  • Steam Hose: Delivers steam from the main unit to the steam head.
  • Extension Pole: Adjustable pole for varying heights, allowing comfortable use for different garment lengths. It consists of three screw-together sections.
  • Sleeve Protector Strap: Helps secure sleeves or other garment parts during steaming.
  • Water Tank: A removable 3L tank for water, providing extended steaming time.
  • On/Off Switch: Controls the power to the unit.
  • Dual Setting Switch: Allows selection between two steam levels (high and low) to suit different fabric types and desired steaming intensity.
  • Universal Wheel: Enhances mobility, making it easy to move the steamer around.

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Screw the three extension poles together clockwise.
  2. Attach the assembled extension pole to the main body of the garment steamer by screwing it clockwise.
  3. Attach the garment hanger to the pole; a "click" sound confirms it's locked into place.
  4. Attach the cradle onto the top of the garment hanger.
  5. Screw the steam hose into the garment steamer in a clockwise direction.
  6. Secure the sleeve protector strap onto the pole.
  7. Screw the steam head onto the steam hose in a clockwise direction tightly.
  8. Attach the fabric brush to the steam plate for delicate garments.

Operating Instructions:

  1. Filling the Water Tank: Remove the water tank, unscrew the cap, fill with water (distilled/purified water recommended, especially in hard water areas), and re-fit the tank. Do not add cleaning solutions, scented perfumes, oils, or other chemicals.
  2. Connecting to Power Supply: Plug the steamer into a power supply and switch the On/Off switch to the "On" position. The steamer will be ready in approximately 45 seconds.
  3. Steam Settings: Use the dual setting switch to select between high and low steam modes. Low steam provides up to 100 minutes of runtime, while high steam provides up to 70 minutes.
  4. Steaming Clothes:
    • Hang the garment on the hanger.
    • Run the steam head along the fabric in downward strokes. Avoid pressing or pushing against the fabric.
    • For delicate garments, attach the fabric brush.
    • WARNING: Never use the steamer in a horizontal position or tilt it backward, as this can cause hot water discharge and scalding.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficiency of the garment steamer.

  • After Use:
    1. Rest the steam head on the cradle and turn off the steamer.
    2. Unplug the steamer, remove the water tank, unscrew the cap, and empty any excess water into a sink.
    3. WARNING: Do not bend the steam hose for storage purposes.
  • Descaling:
    1. Remove the water tank and add 100ml of a descaling solution (sold separately), then fill the rest of the tank with water.
    2. Place the water tank back into the steamer and plug it into the power supply.
    3. Turn the On/Off switch to "On" and run the steamer until the water tank is empty. Perform this in a well-ventilated area and do not leave unattended.
    4. Unplug the steamer, allow it to rest for 60 minutes, then remove the drainage plug at the bottom and empty any remaining mixture.
    5. Re-fit the drainage plug, refill the tank with water, and run the steamer until the tank is empty again to flush out mineral buildup.
    • IMPORTANT: Tap water contains minerals that can build up. Regular use of a descaling solution (every three months recommended) will remove buildup and maximize efficiency.
    • CAUTION: Allow the steamer to cool completely before removing the drainage plug to avoid scalding from hot steam.

Safety Instructions:

  • Always check material suitability for steam treatment in a hidden spot first.
