Overview

This document describes the operation and features of the Whirlpool AU AWO 3361 washing machine, designed with 6th Sense intelligent technology for optimal washing results and efficiency.

The machine is equipped with automatic safety functions that detect and diagnose faults early. These include indications for "Water Tap Closed" (A), "Clean Pump" (B), and "Door Locked" (C). The control panel features a Programme selector knob (D), Programme sequence indication (E), "Start/Pause" button (F), "Start/Pause" indication (G), "Reset" button (H), and "Variable spin" button (I). When an option is selected, its indication lights up. If a combination of programme, additional options, and temperature is not possible, the indications switch off automatically, and unsuitable combinations are deselected.

Function Description

The AU AWO 3361 offers a variety of wash programmes tailored to different fabric types and soil levels:

  • Cotton 95°, 60°, 40°: For normally to heavily soiled bed linen, table linen, underwear, towels, and shirts made of cotton, coloured cotton, and linen. The temperature selection should respect the manufacturer's care label. For heavily soiled laundry, the "Prewash" option can be selected.
  • Synthetics 60°, 40°: For normally soiled blouses, shirts, and overalls made of polyester (Diolen, Trevira), polyamide (Perlon, Nylon), or blends with cotton.
  • Daily load 40°: For slightly to normally soiled textiles made of cotton and/or synthetics.
  • Quick Wash 30°: For shortly worn outer clothing made of cotton, polyester, polyamide, and blends with cotton.
  • Delicates 40°, 30°: For curtains, delicate clothing, dresses, skirts, shirts, and blouses.
  • Wool 30°, Cold: Specifically for woollens with a felt-free finish, labelled with the woolmark and identified as machine washable. If "Rinse Hold" is selected, items should not be left to soak for too long.
  • Handwash 30°: For textiles made of linen, silk, wool, and viscose marked as "handwashable." Similar to the Wool programme, if "Rinse Hold" is selected, items should not be left to soak for too long. This programme uses a very gentle spin.
  • Rinse & Spin: Performs the last rinse and the final spin, identical to the "Cotton" programme.
  • Spin: An intensive spinning programme, identical to the spin cycle in the "Cotton" programme.
  • Gentle spin: A gentle spinning programme, identical to the spin cycle in the "Wool" programme.
  • Drain: Drains water without spinning, serving as an alternative method to terminate a programme after "Rinse Hold."

Usage Features

Starting a Programme:

  1. Add detergent as per the programme table or "Detergents and Additives" chapter.
  2. Turn the programme selector knob to the desired programme and temperature.
  3. After a few seconds for calculation, the "Start/Pause" button indication will flash.
  4. The programme sequence and predefined spin speed indication for the selected programme will light up.
  5. Open the water tap and press the "Start/Pause" button. The "Start/Pause" indication lights up, and the programme sequence indications (Wash, Rinse, Spin) run from left to right. Once the programme is finished, the corresponding indication goes out.

Programme Options:

  • "Eco" button: Extends wash duration and reduces temperature to save energy while maintaining good washing results.
  • "Prewash" button: Recommended for heavily soiled loads (e.g., sand, granular dirt). Increases cycle time by approximately 15 minutes.
  • "Intensive Rinse" button: Adds more water and extends the rinse cycle time. Suitable for areas with very soft water, washing baby linen, and for people with allergies.
  • "Rinse Hold" button: Keeps laundry in the last rinse water to prevent creasing and colour changes, avoiding the final spin cycle. Recommended for "Synthetics," "Daily," and "Delicates" programmes. Useful for postponing spinning or draining. To terminate "Rinse Hold," press the button again for an automatic final spin, or turn the programme selector knob counterclockwise to "Drain" and press "Start/Pause" if no spinning is desired.
  • "Variable spin" button: Allows setting a different spin speed than the automatic predefined maximum. Selecting "O" cancels the final spinning, but intermediate spin peaks remain during rinse, and water is drained.

Changing Programme/Options After Start:

  1. Press the "Start/Pause" button to pause the programme (light flashes).
  2. Select the new programme (with temperature), any options, and a new spin speed if desired.
  3. Press "Start/Pause" again. The new programme continues from the interruption point. No additional detergent should be added.

Cancelling a Running Programme:

Press the "Reset" button for at least 3 seconds. Any existing water is drained before the door can be opened.

Installation:

  • Hot and Cold Water Supply (Fig.1): Fix the red-marked inlet hose to the hot water tap and the inlet valve with the red filter on the machine's rear. Fix the other inlet hose to the cold water tap and the inlet valve with the blue filter on the machine's rear. Ensure connections are tightly fixed and not inverted.
  • Cold Water Only Supply (Fig.2): A Y-piece connector is required (available from Service Organization or hydraulic component stores). Fix the Y-piece connector to the cold fill tap. Connect both inlet valves on the machine's rear to the Y-piece connector using the provided hoses. Ensure all connections are tightly fixed.

Maintenance Features

Red Indications:

  • "Water Tap Closed": Indicates no or insufficient water supply. Open the water tap. If the indication persists, refer to the "Troubleshooting Guide."
  • "Clean Pump": Indicates waste water is not pumped out. Check for kinked drain hose or a clogged filter. Refer to "Removing the Filter" in the Instructions for Use for cleaning.
  • "Door Locked": Lights up when a programme is running, indicating the door cannot be opened. Goes off when the door can be opened.

Programme End:

  1. All programme sequence indications are off.
  2. Turn the programme selector to "Off/0."
  3. Close the water tap.
  4. Open the door and unload the machine.
  5. Leave the door ajar to allow the drum to dry out.
