Overview

This document describes the Whirlpool AWZ 414 washer-dryer, providing details on its functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Whirlpool AWZ 414 is a combined washer-dryer appliance designed for washing and drying various types of fabrics. It features a range of washing programs tailored for different load types and soil levels, as well as drying cycles.

Washing Functions:

The appliance offers several washing programs:

  • Cotton with prewash (Program 1): For heavily soiled, hard-wearing cotton and linen fabrics (bedlinen, table linen, underwear, shirts, etc.).
  • Cotton (Program 2): For normally soiled bed linen, table linen and underwear, towels, shirts, etc. made of cotton or linen.
  • Coloured Cotton (Program 3): For average to heavily soiled, hard-wearing cotton or linen fabrics.
  • Quick wash (Program 4): For normally soiled bed linen, table linen and underwear, towels, shirts, etc. made of cotton or linen.
  • Synthetic with prewash (Program 5): For heavily soiled shirts, blouses, aprons, etc. made of polyester (diolen, trevira), polyamide (perlon, nylon) or cotton blends.
  • Synthetic (Program 6): For lightly to normally soiled blouses, t-shirts, aprons, etc. made of polyester (diolen, trevira), polyamide (perlon, nylon) or cotton blends.
  • Wool (Program 7): Specifically for machine washable woollens with the "Pure New Wool" label.

Special Washing Programs/Options:

  • Special rinse for cottons (Program B): A program for treating laundry with starch and/or softener, ending with an intensive spin cycle.
  • Rinse (Program A): A rinse program, ending with a spin cycle.
  • Special rinse for synthetic fabrics (Program B): Similar to the cotton version, but for synthetics, ending with an intensive spin cycle.
  • Drain + Spin (Programs C, D): Allows for draining water and a final spin, useful for unloading laundry earlier or ending "Synthetic," "Delicate," and "Wool" programs.
  • Pre-wash: An option available for cotton and synthetic programs, increasing program duration by approximately 15 minutes.
  • Intensive Rinse: Increases the quantity and duration of the rinse cycle. Recommended for areas with extremely soft water, baby linen, and for individuals with skin allergies.
  • Rinse and Hold: Available for synthetic and wool programs. This option keeps laundry in the final rinse water, preventing creasing and colour bleeding. It's useful for postponing spinning or when clothes are not to be spun immediately. To terminate, press the button again or turn the selector to "Drain cycle."
  • Spin Speed Reduction: Allows adjustment of the spin speed from 1400 to 550 rpm.

Drying Functions:

The appliance integrates drying cycles for cotton and synthetic fabrics (not wool). Drying can be set independently or in sequence with a washing program.

  • Drying Time Knob: Used to select the desired drying time based on fabric type, load amount, and desired dryness level (iron or cupboard dry).
  • Dryer Half Load: An option to adjust drying for smaller loads.

Control Elements:

The front panel includes:

  • "On/Off" indicator light: Shows if the appliance is on.
  • "On/Off" Button: Powers the appliance on or off.
  • "Spin Speed Reduction" Button: Adjusts spin speed.
  • "Rinse and Hold" Button: Activates the rinse and hold option.
