What to do if my Whitfield Stove keeps shutting down?
    • J
      Jamie HoodJul 30, 2025
If your Whitfield Stove's fire goes out or the stove shuts down automatically, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure the stove hasn't run out of fuel by refilling the hopper. If pellets aren't feeding, consult the relevant section about pellet feeding. If the high limit temperature switch has tripped, allow the stove to cool for one hour before relighting. Adjusting the damper to reduce combustion airflow may help if there's too much combustion air for the fuel amount. Relighting the stove with a higher setting on the fuel control can address a fuel feed rate that's too low. Also, make sure the ash pan is correctly latched and inspect the ash pan door gasket for a proper seal, replacing it if necessary.

Why does my Whitfield II-T C FS fire keep going out?

      Kimberly ChristianAug 6, 2025
If your Whitfield Stove's fire goes out or the stove shuts down automatically, one potential cause is that the stove has run out of fuel. To solve this, simply refill the hopper. Another possible reason is that the high limit temperature switch has tripped. If this is the case, allow the stove to cool for 1 hour and then re-light it. If there is too much combustion air for the amount of fuel, adjust the damper to reduce combustion air flow.

Why does my Whitfield II-T C FS Stove shut down after 30 minutes?
    • D
      dpierceAug 22, 2025
If your Whitfield Stove runs for 30 minutes and then shuts down, or shuts down when operated at lower feed rate settings, it could be because the exhaust gas is not up to temperature. In this case, press the start button and re-light the stove if necessary. Also, check the wires to the low limit disc (on the exhaust blower housing) to ensure they are not loose or disconnected, and make sure there are good connections between all wires and their terminals.

Why does my Whitfield II-T C FS Stove have a lazy orange flame and sooted window?

If the fire in your Whitfield Stove burns with a lazy orange flame, pellets build up in the UltraGrateTM, and the window gets sooted up, it could be due to insufficient combustion air. Try removing any clinkers or ash from the bottom of the UltraGrateTM that might be obstructing the primary air holes. Also, consider that the fuel feed rate may be too high. If necessary, switch to a better grade of fuel and ensure the damper is sufficiently open for the fuel feed amount. Additionally, ensure that the heat exchange tubes are not coated with ash and check for ash buildup behind the side firebricks, cleaning if needed. Examine the door gasket seal by using a thin strip of paper around the door, and replace the gasket if necessary. Check for any blockages in the air inlet tube, exhaust pipe, an...
