Why won't the pilot light stay lit on my Williams Wall Furnace after following the lighting instructions?
    • S
      Sara BoyerAug 14, 2025
If the pilot light won't stay lit on your Williams Wall Furnace, there are several things you can check. First, make sure the pilot flame impinges on the generator. Next, clean and/or tighten the generator connections at the valve. You can also check the generator with a millivolt meter, ensuring a reading of 450 millivolts or more at the generator terminals of the valve while in the 'Pilot' position, with the thermostat wires disconnected. Additionally, try removing the thermostat wires from the valve terminals; if the pilot stays lit, trace the thermostat wiring circuit for a ground. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the gas valve may need to be replaced.

What to do if my Williams Wall Furnace operates but turns off before reaching the set room temperature?
    • B
      Brian ScottAug 17, 2025
If your Williams Wall Furnace turns off before reaching the set room temperature, check the thermostat's location. Ensure it is not in the path of warm air from the furnace, near a lamp, or above a TV or stereo. Also, check the thermostat calibration or consider replacing it.

What to do if my Williams Wall Furnace operates but won't shut off when the room temperature is reached?
    • F
      Frank ScottAug 21, 2025
If your Williams Wall Furnace continues to run even after the room reaches the set temperature, the thermostat lead wires might be shorted together, possibly by a nail or staple. Check this by removing the thermostat leads from the valve terminals. Also, examine the thermostat's location; if it's on an outside wall or there's a hole behind it, cold air could be affecting its reading. Relocating the thermostat might help. You can also check the thermostat calibration, verify its temperature reading, or replace it. In some cases, the valve may need replacing.

      Kristine MossAug 25, 2025
A pilot outage in your Williams Wall Furnace can be caused by a few factors. Try adjusting the pilot flame. Also, the pilot orifice might be plugged; check for spider webs or other obstructions. Additionally, consider whether the furnace is located in a doorway or area with high movement.

Why is my Williams Wall Furnace not producing enough heat?
    • B
      Barbara AllenAug 31, 2025
If your Williams Wall Furnace isn't producing enough heat, start by checking the heat sizing calculations. Also, check for low gas pressure at the gas valve, ensuring it's at 4 inches water column for natural gas or 10 inches water column for L.P.G. Finally, inspect the burner orifices for any blockages.

What to do if there is no gas going to the main burner in my Williams Wall Furnace?
    • R
      robert12Sep 3, 2025
If there's no gas going to the main burner in your Williams Wall Furnace, ensure the gas valve knob is turned to the 'ON' position and the thermostat is set to call for heat. Check, clean, or replace components as needed. Also, check the connections at the valve terminals, and if the valve operates, check the thermostat wires. Refer to sections 1a and 1c for additional guidance. If these steps don't work, the gas valve may need to be replaced. Finally, check and reset the system.

Why does the main burner on my Williams Wall Furnace keep turning off?
    • V
      vegakristenNov 26, 2025
If the main burner on your Williams Wall Furnace won't stay on, start by checking the vent pipe for any blockages like bird nests, twigs, or leaves. Ensure the vent cap is properly installed and not placed too far down on the vent pipe, and that it's from the same manufacturer as the vent. The vent should extend at least 12 feet above the floor plate and 2 feet above any obstacle within a 10-foot radius, including the roof. All type 'B' vents should extend vertically with offsets not exceeding 45 degrees, placed a minimum of 2 feet above the draft hood. Use listed B/W type vent pipe, avoiding transite or ceramic pipe, and never use single wall vent pipe. When venting into a masonry chimney, ensure it's properly lined and sized, using type 'B' or a flexible chimney liner. Finally, check and...
