What to do if my Williams Wall Furnace burner comes on, blower comes on, but cycles on and off while burner remains on?
    • M
      Mitchell VelazquezAug 16, 2025
If your burner comes on, and the blower also activates, but then the blower cycles on and off while the burner stays on, it could be due to the furnace not operating at its full rate. Check for low gas pressure at the gas valve, which should be 4" W.C. for Natural Gas and 11" W.C. for L.P. Gas. Also, inspect the burner orifice.

Why won't the main burner come on in my Williams Wall Furnace, even though the pilot is burning and the thermostat is set for heat?
    • W
      Wayne MartinezAug 25, 2025
Several reasons may prevent the main burner from igniting: Ensure the gas valve is turned to the 'ON' position after lighting the pilot. If there's still no gas flow, check if the electric power to the furnace is turned OFF. If power is available, inspect the low voltage transformer or limit switch for defects. Check for 24 volts at the transformer's low voltage terminals; if absent, turn OFF power and check the limit switch for continuity. If the limit switch is good and power is ON, but there's still no voltage, replace the transformer. Also, a plugged burner orifice can prevent gas flow, requiring cleaning or replacement. If none of these resolves the issue, the gas valve itself may be defective and require replacement.

Why does my Williams Wall Furnace burner come on, blower comes on, but burner cycles off and on with blower on?
    • C
      Chad FosterAug 27, 2025
If your burner cycles off and on while the blower is running, it could be due to several factors. The furnace may be operating over-rate, so check for high gas pressure at the gas valve and correct it if necessary. Low line voltage to the motor can also cause this issue; ensure it's at least 115 volts. Recirculation of heated air due to obstructions like furniture or hall installations can also cause cycling. Finally, loss of circulating air due to leakage can be a factor; check the header plate installation and gaskets, repairing as needed.

What causes my Williams Wall Furnace to operate but turn off before reaching room temperature?
    • W
      weberrichardAug 31, 2025
The furnace might be turning off prematurely due to the thermostat's location. Ensure it's not in the path of warm air from the furnace, near a lamp, or above a TV or stereo. Alternatively, the thermostat itself may be defective, requiring calibration or replacement.

What causes my Williams Wall Furnace to keep operating and not shut off when the room temperature is attained?
    • M
      Michael MeyerSep 4, 2025
If your furnace continues to run even after the room reaches the set temperature, the thermostat wiring might be defective. Inspect the wiring from the furnace to the thermostat for any shorts caused by nails or staples. Also, check the thermostat's location. If it's on an outside wall or exposed to cold air from a hole in the wall, relocate it.

What could be causing abnormal operation in my Williams Wall Furnace?
    • N
      nicholas08Sep 8, 2025
Abnormal operation in your furnace can stem from several sources. Blower noise might arise from loose motor mounts, an imbalanced blower wheel, a loose set screw on the motor shaft, the blower rubbing on the fan shroud, or the motor needing oiling. Expansion noise, like ticking, could indicate a twisted or unlevel installation, causing the combustion chamber to bind. Burner resonance is often linked to L.P. Gas operation and can be adjusted via the primary air screw on each burner. A defective selector switch may prevent changes in motor speed during furnace operation; replace it if necessary.

Why won't the pilot light stay lit on my Williams Wall Furnace?
    • K
      Kiara HallNov 11, 2025
Several factors can cause the pilot light to fail to stay lit. It could be due to: * A thermocouple producing insufficient millivolts, which can be resolved by ensuring the pilot flame impinges on the thermocouple, checking for a low or high pilot flame, clearing any blockages in the pilot orifice or aerating hole, and confirming the thermocouple is fully inserted in its bracket. * A loose or dirty thermocouple connection at the gas valve, which requires cleaning and tightening the fitting. * A defective thermocouple, indicated by a millivolt reading below 7 when connected to a load, necessitating replacement. * A defective thermomagnet pilot safety, requiring gas valve replacement. * A vent safety shutoff device issue, which involves checking and tightening wiring connections a...

What to do if the burner comes on but goes off before blower turns on in my Williams Wall Furnace?
    • B
      Brooke WilliamsNov 19, 2025
If the burner comes on but shuts off before the blower activates, consider these potential causes: 1. **Defective wiring:** Turn off the power and inspect all wiring inside the junction box and switch box, referring to the wiring diagram. Correct any issues. 2. **Defective limit switch:** If the burner goes off in less than five minutes from a cold start, check the limit control switch and replace it if defective. 3. **Defective motor (2-speed or 1-speed):** For a 2-speed motor, test the motor by jumping across the fan switch and then testing each speed setting on the selector switch. For a 1-speed motor, simply jump across the fan switch to see if the motor rotates. Replace the motor if it doesn't work. 4. **Defective fan switch:** If the problem persists after checking the above, re...
