The device described in the manual is a series of corded miner cap lamps: KL4MS, KL5MS, and KL8MS, manufactured by NEW WISDOM. These are portable lighting equipment designed for use in harsh underground conditions such as coal mines and metal mines.
Function Description
The cap lamps utilize the latest CREE LED lighting source and Li-ion battery technology to provide stable, super bright, and long-lasting illumination. They are designed to be small, light, and portable, making them convenient for miners. A key feature is their safety and reliability, achieved through a maintenance-free Li-ion battery and a battery pack PCB that protects against overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, and short circuits, preventing explosions or fires.
The lamps offer two charging methods: traditional charging with matching single chargers and charging racks, and a convenient USB charging method using a magnetic USB wire, compatible with standard 5V USB outputs. An advanced isolation circuit prevents voltage differences and current flow between charging contacts during charging. The housing is made of bulletproof PC from the German Bayer brand, ensuring explosion-proof and super impact-resistance. The lamps are also super waterproof, meeting IP68 approval, with well-designed waterproof components including the headlamp globe, battery box, button switch, and stainless steel metal parts. They are environmentally friendly, designed in accordance with RoHS standards.
The cap lamps feature an intelligent three-light source reminder for battery status. They also include low battery warnings: a normal warning (main LED flashes softly once every five seconds about 1 hour before power runs out) and a least battery warning (main LED flashes quickly with strong and soft light once every two seconds when only 10 minutes of power remain).

Usage Features
The cap lamps are designed for ease of use and reliability.
- Charging:
- Traditional: Connect the single charger to power (or switch on charger rack), indicator turns green. Connect the cap lamp by fixing the brass pin (cathode) of the charger into the hole of the cap lamp clip. Rotate the headlamp 180 degrees clockwise to connect the anode touch to the metal base; the indicator turns red, signifying charging. Charging is complete when the indicator turns green (NWB-20) or flashes green only (NWB-25A). For NWB-25A, flashing green to red means 90% charged, allowing over 13 hours of continuous work.
- USB: Connect a "5V, 2A" power supply with the magnetic USB wire to an AC outlet (100-240V); the charger indicator turns green. Connect the magnetic charging terminal to the USB charging points on the lamp; the lamp's indicator turns red for charging. It turns green when charging is complete.
- Switch Operation: The waterproof electric switch operates sequentially: Light off → Aux LED on → Main LED on. Pressing the button cycles through these modes.
- Battery Indication: When the lamp is off, press the switch for more than 2 seconds to display remaining battery via soft light from the main and auxiliary light sources.
- Battery ≤1/3: Main LED On, Aux LED Off.
- 1/3 < Battery ≤2/3: Main LED On, Aux LED On (one).
- Battery >2/3: Main LED On, Aux LED On (both).
The indication lasts for 6 seconds.
- Low Battery Warning:
- Normal: Approximately 1 hour before power depletion, the main LED flashes softly (once every five seconds). This can be suppressed by pressing the switch for more than 2 seconds, causing two flashes, then returning to normal lighting.
- Least: When only 10 minutes of power remain, the main LED flashes quickly with strong and soft light (once every two seconds), indicating a need for recharging or switching to the auxiliary light source.
Maintenance Features
The manual provides guidelines for maintaining the cap lamps to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Initial Charge: Lamps are half-charged upon delivery; a full charge is required before first use.
- Charger Use: Only use matched chargers or magnetic USB wires provided by the manufacturer. Using unapproved chargers, especially those not designed for Li-ion batteries, can damage the lamp.
- Cleaning: Timely cleaning of the headlamp glass is recommended for best performance. The charging point slot should also be cleaned of dust for normal USB charging.
- Long-term Storage: For prolonged storage, lamps should be fully charged, completely discharged, and then charged for 2 hours every two months.
- Safety Precautions:
- Avoid direct eye exposure to the strong light.
- Do not disassemble the cap lamp, as this can compromise safety and reliability underground.
- Avoid crashing or striking the lamp.
- Do not charge the lamp underground.
- Keep the lamp away from fire sources.
- All maintenance must be performed above ground.
- Self-disassembly voids the manufacturer's warranty.
- Discarded cap lamps should be recycled properly, not thrown away.
