Automatic switch-off
Shortly after the water has started to boil, the automatic switch-off
function will shut down the kettle automatically. If the kettle is filled
with only a small quantity of water, the switch-off period will be
increased.
If you require warm but not boiling water, the heating process can be
interrupted at any time by pressing the ON switch. The appliance will
then shut down automatically as soon as the kettle is removed from
the base.
For functional reasons, a small amount of condensed water may run
out through the openings at the bottom of the handle and onto the
rim of the base. This is due to technical reasons and does not impair
the safety of the appliance.
Safety system
If the kettle is accidentally operated without water, a thermostat
protects the kettle from overheating by switching off the appliance.
Make sure to allow the kettle to cool down before filling with water.
If the first thermostat should fail due to misuse, an additional tempe-
rature limiter offers reliable protection.
Cleaning and maintenance
Disconnect the appliance from the mains and allow it to cool down.
Never immerse the appliance in water; simply wipe it over using a
damp cloth with a drop of washing-up liquid and then rub dry.
Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.
The bottom of the kettle is made of stainless steel. If you notice rust
stains all the same, these are only deposits sticking to the surface.
Remove these immediately with a cleaning agent for stainless steel.
The mesh filter in the spout can be pulled off to clean when the lid is
open. To remove, press up the top lug. When inserting, place the mesh
filter centrally against the bar and then latch home to the front.
Decalcifying
Limescale and calcium deposits result in a loss of energy and impair
the service life of the appliance. The appliance will switch off
prematurely if the deposit is too excessive. It is then very difficult to
remove the deposit. For this reason, decalcify the appliance at regular
intervals.
We recommend using durgol® universal. This decalcifying agent is
highly effective and gentle to the material.
You can obtain this decalcifier where you bought the appliance or
directly from select dealers, or you can order it directly from wmf
consumer electric.
Before decalcifying, disconnect the appliance from the power supply
and let it cool down. Fill in 1 to 2 cups of durgol® universal and wait
until the calcium deposit is removed from the bottom of the kettle.
Then fill the appliance with tap water up to the limescale/calcium
mark on the wall and leave to stand for 15 minutes. Pour out the
water and rinse the kettle thoroughly with cold tap water.
Do not heat up the kettle during the decalcification process.
Important. Warranty compensation does not cover damage that occurs
due to non-compliance with the decalcification instructions.
Causes of faults
The appliance switches off before boiling:
The kettle bottom is too strongly calcified
There is not enough water in the kettle:
The appliance does not switch off
The lid is not closed:
The appliance cannot be switched on
The kettle has not cooled down sufficiently after being operated with
no or too little water.
If the fault cannot be remedied, you must return the appliance for
repair.
