GPS receiver.
Use XLR breakout harness to connect via 2-wire communication or external
trigger input.
Connect red end of the CAT5 cable to WPS pro and yellow to WPS slat(s).
If you are not using WPS high quality CAT5
cables - please remove the clip on the end of
plug where WPS pro is to be connected for
easier connect/disconnect.
Plug the LiPo charger into the Power jack on the panel for easy charging. Once
plugged in, charger indicator light will turn red. Light on the charger will turn
green once battery has been fully charged.
Note: For safety reasons do not leave charging unatended. For long term

Overview

This document provides quick setup guides for two devices: the WPS Pro and the WPS Mote, both appearing to be components of a wireless pyrotechnic firing system.

WPS Pro

The WPS Pro is a robust, portable unit designed for wireless control and communication, likely in the context of pyrotechnic or similar remote triggering applications.

Function Description: The WPS Pro serves as a central control or communication hub within a wireless pyrotechnic system. It features both a radio module and a GPS receiver, each with its own external antenna, enabling precise positioning and reliable wireless communication. The device includes a key-switch for operation, an XLR port for various connections, and a power jack for charging.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Antennas: Two external antennas are used: one for the radio module and one for the GPS receiver.
  • Connectivity:
    • XLR Port: Used for 2-wire communication or an external trigger input. A breakout harness is provided for this purpose, offering connections for +5V, external trigger, 2-wire A, 2-wire B, and GND.
    • CAT5 Cable: Connects the WPS Pro to WPS slat(s). The red end of the CAT5 cable connects to the WPS Pro.
    • Power Jack: Dedicated for charging the internal LiPo battery.
  • Power Source: Internal LiPo battery.

Usage Features:

  • Wireless Communication: Utilizes a radio module for wireless control.
  • GPS Functionality: Integrated GPS receiver for location tracking or synchronization.
  • External Trigger Input: Allows for external triggering of events.
  • 2-Wire Communication: Supports a 2-wire communication protocol via the XLR port.
  • Slat Connectivity: Designed to connect to WPS slat(s) using CAT5 cables, suggesting a modular system where the Pro unit controls multiple firing slats.
  • Antenna Placement: Dedicated ports for external radio and GPS antennas ensure optimal signal reception.
  • Key-Switch: Provides a secure method for activating or deactivating the device.
  • CAT5 Cable Management: If not using WPS high-quality CAT5 cables, the clip on the end of the plug connecting to the WPS Pro can be removed for easier connection/disconnection.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Charging: The LiPo battery is charged via a dedicated power jack. The charger indicator light turns red during charging and green when fully charged.
  • Charging Safety: Users are advised not to leave the device charging unattended.
  • Battery Longevity: For long-term storage, it is recommended to discharge the battery slightly to enhance its longevity. More details are available in Section 3.1 of the User Manual.

WPS Mote

The WPS Mote appears to be a smaller, more compact version or a complementary device to the WPS Pro, also designed for wireless control within the same pyrotechnic system.

Function Description: The WPS Mote is a compact wireless device, likely serving as a remote receiver or trigger in a pyrotechnic setup. Similar to the Pro, it integrates both a radio module and a GPS receiver, each with its own external antenna, allowing for wireless communication and location awareness in a smaller form factor.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Antennas: Two external antennas are used: one for the radio module and one for the GPS receiver.
  • Connectivity:
    • 3.5mm Jack: Used for 2-wire communication or an external trigger input. A breakout harness is provided, offering connections for +5V, GND, 2-wire A, and 2-wire B.
    • Mini USB Port: Used for charging the internal battery.
  • Power Source: Internal battery, charged via mini USB.
  • Charging Current: Maximum 1A.

Usage Features:

  • Wireless Communication: Utilizes a radio module for wireless control.
  • GPS Functionality: Integrated GPS receiver for location tracking or synchronization.
  • External Trigger Input: Allows for external triggering of events via the 3.5mm jack.
  • 2-Wire Communication: Supports a 2-wire communication protocol via the 3.5mm jack.
  • Antenna Placement: Dedicated ports for external radio and GPS antennas ensure optimal signal reception.
  • Compact Design: Its smaller size makes it suitable for applications where space is limited or a less obtrusive device is required.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Charging: The internal battery is charged using a mini USB cable.
  • Charging Indicator: A red LED on the WPS Mote illuminates during charging and turns off when the battery is fully charged.
  • Charging Current: The device charges at a maximum current of 1A.
