The DEUS II WS MASTER is a sophisticated metal detector that introduces several new features and modifications to enhance the user experience and detection capabilities. This V1.0 update focuses on refining tone settings, threshold adjustments, audio filtering, and multi-frequency programs, among other improvements.
The device offers extensive customization for its tone system, allowing users to choose between 2, 3, 4, or 5 tones. This is accessed by pressing the menu button, navigating to "DISCRI," and holding for 3 seconds. Further customization is available by holding the menu button for 3 seconds to enter the MULTI TONES screen. Here, users can define the sound partitioning of the discrimination range, assigning a volume level (0 to 10) and a specific sound frequency (low- or high-pitched) to each part. The device allows selection of the Tone, TONE BREAK (T. BREAK), or VOLUME (VOL) using the menu button, with adjustments made using the plus and minus buttons. A notable feature is that the volume of the low-pitched tone (tone 1) is automatically set to the same level as the Iron Volume, ensuring consistency in audio feedback for ferrous targets.
With Full Tones activated, the device makes the ground area audible from -6.4. The discrimination setting functions as a "tone break," meaning it defines the point at which the audio changes. The Iron Volume setting allows users to adjust the volume of both ground and ferrous targets that fall below the discrimination level, providing more control over unwanted signals.
For Full Tones, holding the menu button for 3 seconds allows users to customize the sound partitioning and adjust the volume levels of each tone independently. This is achieved by pressing the menu button to select either TONE BREAK (T. BREAK) or VOLUME (VOL) and then using the plus and minus buttons for adjustments.
The OFFSET FT feature is designed to help users better differentiate targets with a signature just above the Discrimination threshold from iron. It achieves this by shifting the "Full Tone" audio frequencies of these targets. An offset of 0 means no offset, while a default value of 5 creates a subtle offset. Setting it to 40 ensures that all targets above discrimination will sound with the same high tone, simplifying target identification in certain scenarios.
The Multi-Notch function, accessed by selecting "NOTCH 1" in the menu, navigating to "DISCRI," and holding for 3 seconds, provides an advanced way to widen the rejection window. This is particularly useful when undesirable targets exhibit fluctuating conductivity. Users can select Tone break 1 or 2 by holding the menu button for 3 seconds and adjust the values using the plus and minus buttons. For situations where multiple targets with different conductivity levels are problematic, two additional notches (N2 and N3) can be activated. These are selected using the menu button and adjusted similarly to N1.
The Threshold setting allows modification of the tone for the deepest and smallest targets, with a range from 150 to 603 Hz. This is adjusted by holding the menu button for 3 seconds and then using the plus and minus buttons.
The DEUS II offers a wide selection of programs utilizing various frequency configurations. It includes eleven simultaneous multi-frequency programs, each with distinct combinations of frequencies and internal parameter settings. The maximum frequency for FMF programs can be configured by the user to 14 kHz, 24 kHz, or 40 kHz. This flexibility helps adapt the detector to different soil conditions and desired targets. For instance, a 24 kHz limit makes the machine less sensitive to very small conductors and more stable in challenging ground. A 14 kHz limit focuses on high conductors and reduces crackling from ferrous targets. The 40 kHz limit remains the most versatile, offering sensitivity to a wider range of targets, including non-ferrous targets close to ferrous, and improved performance on mineralized ground.
Users can select one of three frequency limits (14 kHz, 24 kHz, or 40 kHz) using the menu or plus buttons. If interference is an issue, holding the menu button for 3 seconds allows users to shift frequencies to find the quietest band using the plus and minus buttons, or initiate an automatic scan by pressing the SCAN button.
Accessing the Ground Balance (G.B.) menu is done by pressing the menu button, then holding it for 2 seconds to enter G.B. settings. Unlike DEUS I, DEUS II enters an all-metal mode when accessing the Ground menu (Grab, Tracking, etc.). This is beneficial for listening to the ground and its response during adjustment, and for quickly assessing the ground at any time, whether identifying a clean zone or a mix of ferrous and non-ferrous targets.
The Audio Filter function is accessed by pressing the menu button, selecting "AUDIO," and holding for 3 seconds. This feature filters the audio to produce a softer, more "fluty" sound, particularly when targets are at the detection limit. At depth, the signal becomes less scratchy, and in some situations, the Audio Filter can even provide a little extra depth. On the beach, high levels (2 to 4) can be combined with low reactivity (0 to 1). In land, lower levels (1 or 2) are suggested to help recognize short iron blips. At 0, the Audio Filter is deactivated.
The High Square sound type offers a richer and clearer harmonic compared to the standard Square, especially for deep or small targets, which become higher and more identifiable. When combined with the Pitch tone, strong targets near the coil produce a lower and softened sound compared to the standard Square tone.
The Ferrous T.ID function is accessed by pressing the menu button, selecting "SETTINGS," and holding for 3 seconds. This feature toggles the visual target IDs for targets that fall below the discrimination setting. For example, if FE TID is OFF, only TIDs above the discrimination adjustment are displayed, even if Iron Volume is ON.
