Overview

This document is an owner's manual for the Xpedition Archery Thresher X bow, providing comprehensive information on its features, adjustments, maintenance, and warranty.

Function Description

The Xpedition Archery Thresher X is a compound bow designed for archery enthusiasts. Its primary function is to propel arrows with precision and power, offering adjustable draw lengths and weights to suit individual archers. The bow incorporates advanced cam technology (XS-VT cams) to achieve multiple draw lengths through rotating modules. It is designed for optimal performance and user experience, with specific instructions for tuning and maintenance to ensure safe and effective use.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Cam System: XS-VT cams with rotating modules for multiple draw lengths.
  • Draw Length Adjustment: Achieved by rotating modules on the XS-VT cams. Both top and bottom modules must have the same corresponding number for a given draw length. The manual provides a "Draw Length Mod Chart" mapping positions (1-11) to draw lengths (23" to 28").
  • Draw Stop Adjustment: Draw stops are set using reference numbers and tick marks on the cam track, centering the Torx screw head with the reference numbers. The manual includes detailed tables for "Thresher X XS-VT Cam" draw stop settings across different peak draw weights (30#, 40#, 50#, 60# DW**). These tables specify the draw stop positions for both top and bottom limb stops and cable stops.
  • Cable Stop Configuration: Top stop is long, bottom stop is short, and both are installed on the cable side.
  • Tuning Reference Holes: Each XS-VT cam has a tuning reference hole.
    • Top cam cable should be within 2 13/16" of the reference hole.
    • Bottom cam cable should be within 2 3/16" of the reference hole.
    • Tolerance: Plus or minus 3 twists in each cable and string for optimal tuning.
  • Draw Weight Adjustment: The bow's peak draw weight is achieved when limb bolts are fully tightened. It can be reduced by up to 8 pounds from the specified peak weight. Each full turn of the limb bolts reduces weight by approximately 2 pounds. Users are cautioned never to back off more than 4 turns and to ensure identical adjustments to both top and bottom limb bolts.
  • Center Shot Setting: Recommended at 13/16".
  • Nock or D-loop Setting: Should be set so the arrow rests at a 90-degree angle with the string.
  • Serial Number Location: Found on the riser, opposite side of the model decal. Required for warranty service.

Usage Features

  • Personalized Fit: The bow is designed to be adjusted to fit the archer properly for maximum performance. Authorized Xpedition Archery retailers can assist with fitting.
  • Online Registration: The warranty is valid upon online registration of the bow at www.xpeditionarchery.com within 30 days of purchase by the original owner.
  • Draw Length Modification: To change draw length, loosen the draw stop standoffs on both cams and move them to the end of each track before rotating the mod post. After adjusting the module, retighten the draw stops.
  • Draw Stop Setting: The manual provides detailed charts for setting draw stops based on draw length and peak draw weight. The "middle of range is optimum setting, but to achieve desired feel and tune moving the stops with the listed range is acceptable."
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Only use bow presses that compress by limb tip contact.
    • Never dry fire the bow.
    • Inspect arrows for defects before shooting.
    • Never shoot without a nock set.
    • Never draw the bow without draw stops properly installed.
    • Apply blue Loctite when reinstalling mod screws.

Maintenance Features

  • String and Cable Replacement: When replacing strings and cables, follow Xpedition's specifications for ease of tuning and proper function.
  • Speed Nocks: The bow comes with factory-installed speed nocks; changing or removing them will reduce performance.
  • Storage: Avoid storing the bow in high heat environments and ensure it is dry when stored.
  • Bowstring Wax: Periodically apply a light coating of bowstring wax to the string and cables.
  • Warranty Service: All warranty claims must be taken to an authorized Xpedition Archery retailer. The retailer will assist with the repair process and contact Xpedition Archery if necessary. The retailer may charge for service work accompanying warranty fulfillment.
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty: Covers defects in materials and workmanship to the original registered owner for the life of the bow.
    • Included: All bow parts.
    • Excluded: String, cables, decals, rubber string suppressors, rubber dampeners, cable guard, speed nocks, and cosmetic appearance (chips, dings, scratches) caused by normal use and wear.
    • Xpedition Archery reserves the right to make substitutions on warranty coverage.

The manual emphasizes the importance of proper adjustment and regular maintenance for the bow's longevity and safe operation. It also includes a "Bow Purchasing Record" section for owners to log their bow's details for personal reference and warranty purposes.
