Overview

This document describes the XTM2000DG Digital Inverter Generator, a portable power solution designed for various applications.

Function Description

The XTM2000DG is a 4-stroke, single-cylinder inverter generator that provides 230-240V AC power at 50Hz. It is designed to power a range of devices within its output limits, making it suitable for outdoor activities, camping, and as a backup power source for small appliances. The generator features a "Smart Throttle" (economy smart switch) to optimize fuel consumption when loads are less than 900W. It also includes safety devices such as an overload indicator that automatically disconnects power when overloaded and a low oil level indicator that prevents the engine from starting or running if oil is insufficient.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model: XTM2000DG
  • Engine Type: Single cylinder, 4 stroke, 78.5cc
  • Engine Speed: 3300-5100 r/min
  • Oil Tank Capacity: 400 mL (0.4 L)
  • Oil Type: 4 stroke fully synthetic motor oil, SAE 15W-40 (API SN Category). Important: Non-detergent or 2-Stroke engine oils will damage the engine and should not be used.
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 4.2 L
  • Fuel Type: Unleaded 91 Petrol - NO ETHANOL. Important: Do not use E10 or any type of ethanol fuel, or high octane fuels (greater than 91%), as this will damage the generator and void the warranty.
  • Spark Plug: A7RTC
  • Rated Voltage: 230-240V AC~50Hz
  • Rated Output (Continuous Power): 1800W
  • Maximum Output (Peak/Surge Power): 2000W
  • Rated Current: 7.5A
  • Power Factor: 1.0
  • Maximum Temperature/Altitude: 40°C/1000m
  • Spark Arrestor: Yes
  • Inverter: Yes
  • Noise: 58dB(A) at 7m
  • Nett Weight: 20 kg

Usage Features

  • Oil Requirement: The engine comes with no oil in the sump and requires 400ml of SAE 15W-40 (API SN Category) 4-stroke fully synthetic motor oil before first use. Failure to do so will prevent the generator from starting and will void the warranty.
  • Fueling: Use only clean, fresh unleaded 91 petrol with no ethanol. Do not fill the tank above the bottom of the fuel filter.
  • Earthing: The generator must be correctly earthed using the supplied earth stake and wire before starting.
  • Starting Procedure:
    1. Ensure the "Earth" stake and wire are attached.
    2. Turn the fuel cap breather lever clockwise to ON.
    3. Turn the fuel tap and engine switch anti-clockwise to ON.
    4. Slide the choke lever to CLOSED / START (right).
    5. Hold the generator firmly and pull the recoil starter slowly until engaged, then pull briskly. This may require up to 12 pulls.
    6. Allow the engine to run for 5-10 seconds to reach full speed.
    7. Slowly turn the choke to OPEN / RUN (left).
    8. Verify that only the green output power light is illuminated, indicating readiness for use.
  • Stopping Procedure:
    1. Switch off and disconnect all power leads and appliances from the generator.
    2. Allow the generator to run for 1-2 minutes to cool down.
    3. Switch the economy smart switch to OFF.
    4. Turn the fuel tap and engine switch clockwise to OFF.
  • AC Outlet Usage:
    1. Ensure the green output power light is illuminated.
    2. Lift the flap and plug the appliance into the AC outlet socket.
    3. Turn on the appliance.
    4. When finished, turn off the appliance and disconnect it from the generator.
  • Overload Protection: If the red overload indicator light turns on, the power supply is automatically disconnected. Remove the appliance, check its power requirements (refer to page 13), and press the Reset Button (Pic. 14). Wait 15-20 seconds for the green light to glow and the red light to go out before re-attaching the appliance.
  • Low Oil Shutdown: If the oil level drops too low, the yellow low oil light will flicker, and the generator will automatically stop or fail to start. Always check the oil level before starting.
  • Economy Smart Throttle: This feature reduces fuel consumption when the load is less than 900W. Switch it ON for lighter loads and OFF for starting, stopping, or loads exceeding 900W.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Never operate indoors or in confined spaces due to deadly carbon monoxide fumes.
    • Always use in a well-ventilated area, at least 1 meter away from buildings, equipment, pedestrians, or flammable materials.
    • Do not refuel while smoking or near an open flame.
    • Wear safety eye, ear, and breathing protection when operating or refueling.
    • Never connect to a second generator or commercial/domestic power supply.
    • Do not transport with fuel in the tank; always empty it.
    • Store in an upright position in a secure, well-ventilated area.
    • Do not tamper with or modify any parts of the generator.

Maintenance Features

  • Oil Change: Change oil every 12 hours or every 3 months, or if contaminated.
  • Air Filter: Clean the air filter elements with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry. Apply a light coat of engine oil and squeeze out excess. Replace if damaged. Do not run the generator without the air filter.
  • Spark Plug: Check condition, adjust gap (0.60mm-0.80mm), and clean regularly. Replace if insulator is cracked or chipped. Recommended replacement spark plug: A7RTC.
  • Fuel Tank Filter: Clean the fuel tank filter regularly.
  • Fuel Line: Check for cracks or damage, replace if required.
  • Exhaust System: Check exhaust screen and clean/replace if required.
  • Carburettor: Check choke operation.
  • Fittings/Fastenings: Check and tighten all fittings and fixtures.
  • Storage:
    • Less than 1 month: No special preparation required.
    • 1 to 2 months: Drain fuel from the carburettor.
    • 2 months to 1 year: Empty fuel from the fuel tank and drain from the carburettor.
    • 1 year or more: In addition to draining fuel, remove the spark plug, pour one tablespoon of clean engine oil into the spark plug hole, gently pull the recoil starter several times (with ignition OFF) to distribute oil, re-install the spark plug, and pull the recoil starter until the piston is on the compression stroke. Change engine oil.
  • Service Log: The manual includes a service log for tracking maintenance at specific intervals (12, 24, 36, and 48 hours or 3, 6, 9, and 12 months).
  • Authorised Service: All repairs and major maintenance should be carried out by an authorised service agent. Contact Smart Marketing Group for customer service.
