DESCRIPTION BEHAVIOR
CAN messages are not being received from other
nodes - (RH Traction Node 3, Pump Node 5)
Traction Disabled, Truck disabled if appears at key-
on.
Probable Causes and Test Procedures
1. Re-key the vehicle, is the communication code appear immediately?
YES- Troubleshoot 65527 Node 3 (4) and 65527 Node 5 separately.
NO- Proceed to step 2.
2. Connect to the truck with PC Service Tool. Do both of the traction controllers, hoist controller and dash
appear on the truck information page?
YES- Proceed to step 3.
NO- If either of the traction controllers, or the pump controller does not show up on the truck infor-
mation page, that controller is likely at fault. If both of the traction controllers, the hoist controller,
and the dash display show up in PC Service Tool, the Joystick may be at fault. If PC Service Tool
does not connect, proceed to step 6.
3. Go to No Run Diagnostics using the dash or PC Service Tool. Does the value of Traction Axis change
when the Joystick is moved?
YES- Go to step 4.
NO- Joystick is likely at fault. Check crimps on TBF52C (power to joystick), and volage from
TBF52C to B- stud. Repair harness as necessary. If power checks okay, Joystick may be dam-
aged.
4. The following should be done with the traction wheels off the ground:
Turn the tiller to the point where the right wheel will not rotate when traction is commanded (about 80 de-
grees from straight). Command full traction forward then reverse for aggressive acceleration and plugging.
Repeat this test with the tiller turned so that the left wheel does not turn when traction is commanded. If
the code only appears when one wheel is not moving, the controller with the rotating wheel is likely dam-
aged.
Does the code appear when only one wheel is not moving?
YES- The motor controller for the moving wheel is likely damaged.
NO- The code does not appear at key ON, but it seems to appear when the truck accelerates or
regens (plugs) aggressively in either direction. Proceed to step 5.
5. Either both traction controllers are damaged, or the wire harness is damaged.
a. Perform Basic Checks if not already performed. Be especially alert for power and ground issues.
Fault found with harness?
YES- Replace/repair harness as necessary.
NO- Proceed to step 5b.
b. Does the CANbus pass the CANbus Test?
YES- Both Traction controllers are likely at fault.
NO- The harness is likely at fault.
