Pump
Node 3 ( 4 ) ( 5 )
DESCRIPTION BEHAVIOR
Drive capacitor voltage too low or pre-charge not
complete - (RH Node 3)
Contactor does not pull in.
Probable Causes and Test Procedures
1. Does main contactor pull in after several seconds after key on?
YES- No problem present.
NO- Proceed to step 2.
2. Measure the voltage at B+ and B− power cables. Is it greater than 80% battery voltage?
3. Check for shorts across B+ and B− power cables.
4. Check that the plug is pulled in on the steer pump motor.
5. Does the steer motor have a bumping sound as if it is trying to run? Also measure voltage at B+ and B− of
either of the controllersand verify that there is a voltage wiggle (fluctuation) of 3 to 12 volts.
YES- Disconnect the steer motor fuses FU3 and FU2 and try again. If fault goes away, check small
signal plug to steer motor pump to be installed correctly and check wiring.
NO- Proceed to Next step.
6. Check voltage on pin 2 of CPS23 on the harness side. Voltage should be greater than 12 volts when the
key is turned on and not stepping on the pedal. If not, Check resistance from pin 2 of CPS23 to TF21 (red
wiring # 010). on the main coil. Resistance should be between 4000 to 6000 ohms.
7. Check for a defective or disconnected built in 5,600 ohm resistor in the harness. Repair resistor and har-
ness.
8. Check continuity (wire 060) between pin 2 of CPS23 to Pin 2 of the connector CPS15 on the pump hoist
controller. Repair harness as necessary.
