Why won't the starter operate on my Yamaha Outboard Motor?
    • D
      Danielle MiddletonAug 7, 2025
If the starter on your Yamaha Outboard Motor won't operate, it could be due to a weak or low battery (check its condition and use the recommended capacity), loose or corroded battery connections (tighten cables and clean terminals), a blown fuse in the electric start circuit (check for overload, repair, and replace the fuse with the correct amperage), faulty starter components, or the shift lever being in gear (position it to neutral). If the starter components are faulty, have a Yamaha dealer service them.
