Overview

The Yamaha PA Systems manual describes the PM-200B PA Mixer and the PS-100B/75B PA Amp/Speakers. This document provides detailed information on the operation, specifications, and connection diagrams for these audio components, designed for public address applications.

The PM-200B PA Mixer is an 8-channel mixer with a range of controls for audio input, effects, and output.

Function Description:

The PM-200B serves as the central control unit for a PA system, allowing users to mix multiple audio inputs, apply effects, and send the combined signal to power amplifiers and speakers. It features individual channel controls for volume, tone, and effects, as well as master controls for overall system adjustments.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Channels: 8
  • Power Consumption: 10 W
  • Frequency Response: ±3 dB; 20 ~ 20 kHz
  • Dimensions (W x D x H): 50.9 x 43.7 x 15.4 cm (20 x 17 1/4 x 6")
  • Weight: 11 kg (24.2 lbs.)
  • Input Terminals (Nominal Level/Impedance):
    • -20 dBm (78 mVrms) / 50k Ω
    • -40 dBm (7.8 mVrms) / 8k Ω
    • -50 dBm (2.4 mVrms) / 3k Ω
  • From Echo Terminal (Nominal Level/Impedance): -20 dBm (78 mVrms) / 50k Ω
  • Out Terminals (Nominal Level/Impedance):
    • -6 dBm (0.39 Vrms) / 70 Ω
    • +4 dBm (1.23 Vrms) / 70 Ω
  • Line Out Terminals (Nominal Level/Impedance):
    • Phone Jack: -20 dBm (78 mVrms) / 70 Ω
    • Cannon Type XLR-3-32: -20 dBm (78 mVrms) / 210 Ω (balanced)
  • To Echo Terminal (Nominal Level/Impedance): -30 dBm (24 mVrms) / 5k Ω
  • Circuitry: Solid State

Usage Features:

  • Rear Panel:
    • Power Switch: Selects the ON position for lower hum level (except European and Australian models).
    • Input Selectors: Matches channel input sensitivity to the connected microphone's output.
    • Input Jacks: Telephone type connectors for low impedance microphones.
    • AC Outlet: (Not provided in certain areas)
    • Reverb Foot Switch Jack: Connects an optional foot switch for quick reverb/echo on/off control.
    • Echo Jacks (To Echo, From Echo): Connects to an external echo unit. "To Echo" (level: -30dBm) connects to the echo unit input, and "From Echo" (level: -20dBm) connects to the echo unit output.
    • Out Jacks: Sends the mixed signal to a PA type power amp/speaker, with a two-way (-6dBm, +4dBm) switch to adjust output level.
    • Line Out Jack and Socket: Useful for recording mixed signals or connecting the PM-200B as a sub-unit to another mixer.
  • Front Panel:
    • Reverb/Echo Selectors: Each channel has its own selector for built-in reverb and external echo (when an echo unit is installed).
    • Reverb/Echo Controls: Adjusts reverb or echo intensity for each channel.
    • Tone Controls: Individual Treble and Bass controls for each channel, affecting the frequency scale. Clockwise rotation accentuates tones.
    • Volume Controls: Slide-lever controls for quick-glance signal output control per channel. Sliding up increases volume.
    • VU Meter: Displays the volume level of the output signal from the Out jacks. "0" on the dial indicates ideal output level.
    • VU Meter Range Selector: Controls the sensitivity of the VU meter, with settings for NORMAL (-6, +4) and LOW (-6, +4) corresponding to different Out Jack Levels and VU Meter Indications.
    • Acoustic Control: Three settings (0, -6, -12dB) for five separate controls (150, 400, 900, 2000, 5000Hz) to optimize frequency response and suppress howling.
    • Master Volume Control: Adjusts the combined volume from all channels going to the Out jacks (does not affect Line Out signal).
    • Master Reverb/Echo Control: Adjusts the overall intensity of the effect.
    • Phones Jack: For stage or other monitoring, with its own volume control.

Maintenance Features:

  • Fuse: Replace with a fuse of the same value.
  • Precautions:
    • Check voltage selector setting (110, 130, 220, 240V) before plugging in. U.S., Canadian, European, and Australian models are preset.
    • Ensure power switch is off before plugging in the power cord.
    • Unplug or turn off power before connecting/disconnecting cords.
    • Protect units from heat, humidity, dust, shocks, and direct sunlight.
    • Ensure sufficient space for ventilation around, behind, and under each unit.
    • Do not switch input selectors while the amp is in use.
    • Cannon connector wiring: 1 (SHIELD/GROUND), 2 (POSITIVE/HOT), 3 (COLD).

The PS-100B/75B PA Amp/Speakers are power amplifier and speaker units designed to work with the PM-200B mixer or other audio sources.

Function Description:

These units amplify the audio signal from a mixer and output it through integrated speakers, providing sound reinforcement for public address applications. The PS-100B offers higher power output and a different speaker configuration than the PS-75B.

Important Technical Specifications:

PS-100B:

  • Output Power: 100 Wrms
  • Speakers: JA-2057 20cm (8") x 5
  • Power Consumption: 250 W
  • Dimensions (W x D x H): 42 x 23.7 x 157.8 cm (16½ x 9⅜ x 62⅛")
  • Weight: 43 kg (94.8 lbs.)

PS-75B:

  • Output Power: 60 Wrms
  • Speakers: JA-2057 20cm (8") x 8
  • Power Consumption: 120 W
  • Dimensions (W x D x H): 42 x 23.7 x 102.3 cm (16½ x 9⅜ x 40¼")
