INSTRUKCJA OBSŁ UGI
2
Characteristics of the instrument
An electric indicator allows for measurement of alternating voltage, it also allows to indicate the pres-
ence of AC voltage by the induction method. Both measurements can be made in the range from
12 V up to 250 V. Alternating voltage is measured in the frequency range from 50 to 500 Hz.
The product is not a measuring instrument within the meaning of Act “Law on measurements”.
Safety recommendations
Electric current is dangerous, use caution when working with electricity. The instrument should be operated only by trained people. The instrument can be dan-
gerous in the hands of unskilled personnel, such usage can lead to a short circuit and electric shock. If you have any doubts related to the instrument operation,
you should not start any work, instead ask for a quali ed electrician for assistance.
Do not exceed the measurement range of the instrument. Exceeding the measuring range may result in danger of electric shock.
Before starting any operation, check that the instrument is not damaged, it is prohibited operate the damaged instrument. The damaged instrument must be
replaced with a new one or it it should be submitted for repair in a quali ed repair facility. It is prohibited to repair the instrument by own means or to modify it.
The device tip is formed in the shape of blade of a at screwdriver, however, it is recommended to use the instrument only for measuring, and we recommend
to perform any works with screws by using appropriate tools, for example an insulated screwdriver.
Operation of the indicator
The indicator allows for two types of measurements: contact and inductive measurements.
Contact measurement
Apply the indicator tip to a bare element through which an alternating current is owing. Place your nger to the eld described as “Contact Test” (“Test kon-
taktowy”), then the LED will light on, and the lightning bolt symbol will appear on the indicator screen with an indication of the value of measured voltage. The
indicator does not display an exact value of voltage, it shows only its range. The following indications are available: 12, 36, 55, 110 and 220 V. The indicator
always shows the highest range of the measured voltage and all lower ranges, for example, if you measure the voltage of about 55 V, on the display you will
see the lightning bolt symbol and the value of 12, 36 and 55V. An indication of this range is visible at the value of approximately 70% of the range. This is due
to the fact, that this is the value of e ective measured voltage.
Measurement of the wiring continuity
By using the contact method you can also verify continuity of electrical wiring. It is forbidden to check, by using this method, the continuity of energized wires
or wires connected to an electrical circuit. The continuity of the wire should be checked by applying the tester blade to one end of the wire, then, when holding
the contact described as “Contact Test” (“Test kontaktowy”), you should grasp the other end of the wire. When the LED is lighting up, the test cable continuity
is con rmed.
Measurement by the induction
Attach the tip to the element insulation, by which alternating current ows. Place your nger to the eld described “Inductive Test” („Test indukcyjny”). The light-
ning bolt symbol should appear on the screen. In the absence of this symbol, it means, that element is not energized or that the indicator measuring range has
been exceeded. It is recommended to carry out additional protection measurements in order to ensure, that the given element is not energized.
Induction measurement may be used to detect a break in the circuit.
Measurement of the grounding
With the indicator you can check the grounding quality. When the grounding is checked, an electri-
cal product must be connected to a power supply. You should place the indicator tip to the contact
of uninsulated ground and place your nger to the eld described as “Contact Test” (“Test kontaktowy”). If any symbol does not appear on the LCD screen, it
means that the grounding operation is correct. In the event when the lightning bolt symbol appears on the display, it means that the grounding is damaged.
Battery replacement
In the case when the indicator will not show any information on the LCD screen and LED will not light on, you should replace the batteries. To do this, carefully
pry and remove the latch placed on the bottom of the indicator housing. Then unscrew the two screws which are located on the bottom of housing. Replace all
batteries with fresh ones and assemble the indicator in the reverse order to its dismantling.
Attention! You should always replace the whole set of batteries, not just single cells. It is recommended to use high-quality alkaline batteries. In the case of
prolonged period when the indicator is not used, you should remove the batteries from the housing.
