This document describes a series of 96% Two-Stage Gas-Fired Residential Multi-Position Gas Furnaces, specifically the TM9T models, designed for natural gas operation with input capacities ranging from 60 to 120 MBH. These compact units are engineered for residential installation in various locations such as basements, closets, alcoves, attics, recreation rooms, or garages, and are also suitable for commercial applications.
The furnaces utilize induced combustion, a reliable hot surface ignition system, and high-efficiency heat exchangers. The primary heat exchanger is made of hi-tech tubular aluminized steel, while the secondary heat exchanger features stainless steel tubes and aluminum fins, contributing to outstanding efficiency. The two-stage heating operation is managed by a two-stage gas valve, a two-stage inducer, and a 4-speed direct drive PSC motor blower. An adjustable delay timer allows for two-stage operation even with a single-stage thermostat, optimizing comfort and energy use.
The units are factory-shipped for installation in upflow or horizontal applications and can be easily converted for downflow applications with minimal necessary conversion. They are Category IV listed, allowing for venting through sidewall or roof applications using approved plastic combustion air and vent piping. The 100% shut-off main gas valve provides an extra layer of safety. A 24V, 40 VA control transformer and blower relay are supplied, facilitating add-on cooling systems.
These furnaces are designed for ease of installation and flexibility in application. Their compact 33-inch tall cabinet makes them ideal for various spaces. The units are factory assembled, wired, and tested to ensure safe, dependable, and economical operation upon installation.
For cooling, a blower-off delay feature is incorporated to improve the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). Easy access to controls simplifies power and control wiring connections. The built-in, high-level self-diagnostics system includes a fault code display, aiding in troubleshooting and maintenance. The low unit amp requirement makes these furnaces suitable for a wide range of replacement applications.
All models can be converted to use propane (LP) gas with an accessory conversion kit. The electronic Hot Surface Ignition system contributes to fuel cost savings and enhances dependability and reliability. The solid removable bottom panel facilitates easy conversion between different installation orientations.
Airflow leakage is less than 1% of nominal airflow at ductblaster conditions, ensuring efficient air delivery. The design eliminates knockouts, simplifying installation. Movable duct connector flanges offer flexibility in application. The inducer operates quietly and rotates for easy conversion of venting options. The fully supported blower assembly allows for easy access and removal of the blower for maintenance.
External air filters are used, providing maximum flexibility to meet customers' indoor air quality (IAQ) needs. The blower compartment is insulated for both thermal and acoustic performance, contributing to quieter operation. Quarter-turn knobs are provided for easy, independent door removal.
An internal condensate trap design (patent pending) offers various condensate management options, allows for easy visual operation checks, and is self-priming to prevent nuisance problems. Protection mechanisms are included against air intake, exhaust vent, or condensate blockage. Venting applications can be installed as either a 2-pipe sealed combustion system or a single-pipe vent using indoor combustion air.
The self-diagnostics system with fault code display simplifies troubleshooting, allowing for quick identification of potential issues. Easy access to controls and the fully supported, easily removable blower assembly streamline maintenance tasks. The internal condensate trap design allows for easy visual checks of its operation.
The lifetime limited warranty on both heat exchangers for the original purchaser (20-year limited warranty for subsequent purchasers from the original installation date) and a 5-year limited parts warranty provide long-term assurance. For commercial applications, a 10-year warranty on the heat exchanger is provided.
