further growth, do not use soap or detergents.

Overview

This document describes the ZEMPIRE® ROOF COVER, an accessory designed to enhance the longevity and performance of ZEMPIRE® Camping Equipment shelters. It functions primarily as a protective layer for tents, offering several key benefits and features for users.

Function Description

The ZEMPIRE® ROOF COVER serves as an external protective layer for compatible ZEMPIRE® tents. Its primary function is to extend the life of the tent by shielding it from harmful UV degradation, which can otherwise weaken tent fabrics over time. By reflecting heat and UV light, the roof cover also contributes to reducing the internal temperature of the tent, making the camping experience more comfortable, especially in sunny conditions. This dual protection against UV damage and heat absorption helps maintain the structural integrity and comfort of the tent.

Usage Features

The roof cover is designed for ease of use, with clear instructions provided for pitching and packing. Users are advised to perform a "test run" at home to familiarize themselves with the attachment process, ensuring a smoother setup in the field.

  • Compatibility: The manual illustrates different models of roof covers, including Evo TXL, Evo TL, Evo TM, and Evo TS Roof Covers, indicating compatibility with various ZEMPIRE® tent models.
  • Attachment Process:
    • Preparation: Before attachment, all adjustable straps along the perimeter of the roof cover should be loosened.
    • Orientation: The roof cover has a silver lining that should face downwards, and the ZEMPIRE® logo should be positioned at the rear of the tent.
    • Pulling Over: With assistance, the roof cover is pulled over the tent. Guy ropes can be attached to the ends of the roof cover to extend reach and facilitate this step.
    • Hooking On: Large yellow ladder hooks on the roof cover attach to loops above the rear anchor straps of the tent. Black plastic hooks on the roof cover then attach to bright green webbing loops sewn along the top of the tent, located directly above where the guy ropes are attached. Finally, corresponding ladder hooks connect to loops above the front anchor straps.
    • Tensioning: Once all hooks are secured, the adjustable straps are tensioned to remove any slack, ensuring a snug fit.
  • Packing Down: It is crucial to remove the roof cover before packing down the tent. This practice helps prevent condensation from being trapped between the two layers of fabric and simplifies future tent pitching.
  • Rolling Away: When packing the roof cover, it should be laid beside its carry bag and folded to approximately three-quarters the length of the bag. It is recommended to fold the cover so that webbing and hooks extend outside the fold, preventing them from catching or tearing the fabric during opening.
  • Environmental Considerations: While designed for most conditions, the roof cover is not intended for use in very windy or stormy weather. In such conditions, it is recommended to remove the roof cover to prevent damage to the tent. The manual also includes a general warning to "KEEP ALL FLAME AND HEAT SOURCES AWAY FROM THIS TENT FABRIC," emphasizing safety during use.

Maintenance Features

Proper care and maintenance are essential to maximize the lifespan of the ZEMPIRE® ROOF COVER, and the manual provides detailed instructions to guide users.

  • Guy Ropes: Users are advised to ensure guy ropes are deployed at all times during use, which likely contributes to the stability and proper tensioning of the roof cover.
  • Drying: It is critical never to pack the roof cover away wet. If it must be taken down while wet, it should be dried completely as soon as possible to prevent mildew formation. This is a key step in preserving the fabric's integrity and appearance.
  • Mildew Treatment: If mildew does form on the roof cover, it should be washed off with warm water and a soft brush. The use of soap or detergents is explicitly discouraged, as these can potentially damage the fabric or its protective coatings.
  • Storm Conditions: The roof cover is not designed to withstand storm conditions. During strong winds, it is recommended that the tent (and presumably the roof cover) be taken down to prevent damage.
  • UV Exposure: Users are cautioned against leaving the roof cover (and tent) pitched unnecessarily for extended periods. Prolonged exposure to UV light can damage the fly fabric and shorten the overall life of the roof cover and tent, despite the roof cover's primary function to mitigate UV damage. This suggests that while the cover offers protection, continuous, unnecessary exposure should still be minimized.

Warranty and Guarantee

The ZEMPIRE® ROOF COVER comes with a 2-year shelter guarantee, designed to protect the original purchaser against faulty materials or manufacturing defects. The guarantee allows for repair or replacement at the discretion of Flow Imports Ltd., the manufacturer.

  • Conditions:
    • The guarantee applies only to the original purchaser from an approved retail outlet.
    • It covers reasonable personal camping use, explicitly excluding commercial use (e.g., rental) or continuous use as a residence.
    • Damage from normal wear and tear, accidents, acts of God, negligence (other than by Flow Imports Ltd.), failure to follow setup and care instructions, deterioration from abnormal UV exposure, insect or mildew attack, or other causes beyond Flow Imports Ltd.'s control are not covered.
    • For claims, the shelter must be returned to the purchase outlet within the guarantee period, in a clean, dry state, with proof of purchase.
    • Transport and indirect costs are excluded.
    • Flow Imports Ltd. reserves the right to charge for repairs outside the guarantee's scope.
    • The guarantee does not limit statutory rights but excludes implied conditions and warranties to the extent permitted by law, limiting liability to repair, replacement, or the cost thereof.

The manual emphasizes that the shelter is made with meticulous care and attention to detail, and proper care and storage will ensure years of enjoyment.
