The camera features a self-returning mirror that allows continuous observation of the shooting object before and after exposure. Its vertical movement shutter curtains ensure uniform exposure across the entire frame field. Film loading is simplified with a handle for return rewind and a self-resetting picture counter, reducing preparation time. For high-accuracy focusing, the viewfinder incorporates a special collecting lens with a grid at its center, featuring two concentric circles with diameters of 3 mm and 3.07 mm (round bisector). An imprinter is integrated to allow the entry of a picture number or other information directly into the frame field.

Usage Features:

  • Handling: The camera is a precise optical-mechanical device requiring careful handling. It should be kept clean, protected from impacts, dust, and dampness. Periodic cleaning of the cartridge slot, take-up spool, film channel, and back cover with a soft brush is recommended. Optical parts should only be cleaned with a very soft, dry brush in necessary cases, or with a soft cotton napkin/wool slightly moistened with spirit if traces appear. The camera should be stored in its closed case with the lens covered and body capped. Shutter should be released.
  • Temperature Acclimation: If brought from a cold to a warm room, the camera should remain unpacked for 5-6 hours to reach room temperature.
  • Transportation: Permitted by railway, air, and water transport with moisture protection (air transport in hermetically sealed heated compartments). Automobile transport is allowed in covered cars on firm, smooth roads for distances over 2000 km. Permitted transport temperature range: -50°C to +50°C.
  • Storage: For long storage, the sealed box with the camera and accessories should be placed in a polyethylene bag with a silica gel dehumidifier, according to GOST 9.014-78 (ZH: VZ-10, VU-7 conditions). Protection deadline without re-preserving is 3 years. Storage in a dry, heated room at +1°C to +40°C with relative humidity of 80% at +25°C. Air must be free from harmful vapors. Storage closer than 1 meter to heating systems or under direct sunlight is forbidden.
  • Sanitary Processing: External surfaces (excluding optical parts) should be wiped five times with a tampon moistened with a disinfectant solution (3% hydrogen peroxide with 0.5% washing-up liquid like "Lotos", "Astra", "Progress"). The tampon should be wrung out.
  • Lens Installation: Turn the lens tightening ring counterclockwise until stop, insert the lens into the bayonet aligning the screw head with the bayonet ring groove, then fix by turning the tightening ring clockwise.
  • Film Loading: Pull up the return rewind head (4) to open the back door (28). Insert the film cartridge into slot (20). Lower the return rewind head. Extend the film leader into the take-up spool groove (27). Cock the shutter lever (15) until stop, ensuring film is captured by the measuring roller (26). Close the back door (28). Release the shutter (11). Cock and release the shutter four times to advance to the unexposed part; the picture counter (12) should show "0".
  • Imprinter Use:
    • Automatic Mode: Imprints a single number from scale (30) corresponding to the picture number. Set by turning disk (30). Imprinting occurs automatically upon shutter release (11).
    • Manual Mode: For more detailed information (film number, date, etc.). Partially turn shutter cock lever (15) to align its forward edge with marks on the top cover. Each partial turn moves the film for imprinting one number from scale (30). Press manual imprinting button (3) after each number setting. Up to five additional numbers can be imprinted manually. After manual imprinting, fully turn shutter cock lever (15) and set the picture number. Pressing shutter release (11) takes the picture and imprints the set picture number.
    • Note: Picture number imprints only in automatic mode. The imprinter scale has 32 positions, but film allows 70 pictures, requiring combination of manual and automatic imprinting for the second half of the film. Circular light aura may appear around imprinted numbers. To disable imprinting, disconnect sync wire (8) from plug socket (1).
  • Setting Shutter Speeds: Turn disk (10) to align the desired exposure value with the index. "B" is manual exposure (shutter open while button 11 is pressed). "D" is long exposure (fix pressed button 11 by turning bushing 2 counterclockwise; return clockwise to stop after desired time). A cable release is recommended for manual and long exposures.
  • Focusing: The viewfinder has two concentric circles (35) for focusing. Diopter lenses (see below) can be installed. Focus by accommodating the eye on the round bisector, then achieving a sharp image of the object via the endoscope eyepiece.
  • Photographing: Cock the shutter. Press shutter release button (11) smoothly. Avoid keeping the shutter cocked for too long. A sync jack is provided for connection to lighting blocks for endoscopes.
  • Unloading: When the picture counter reaches 70, rewind the film. Disconnect shutter mechanism by pressing button (14). Unfold handle (9) and rotate return rewind head (4) in the arrow direction until film is released from the take-up spool. Pull up head (4) until stop, open back door, and remove cartridge.
  • Eye Shade with Replaceable Lenses: Use the eye shade to set diopter lenses for photographing without glasses. Unscrew the ring inside the rubber cup, insert a diopter lens, and fix it with the ring. Install the lens with its concave surface inverted towards the eye. Mount the eye shade with the lens onto the camera eyepiece.
  • Battery Replacement: Unscrew screws (19 and 33) counterclockwise with a coin to open compartment covers. Replace used RC-53 elements with new, cleaned ones, ensuring (+) and (-) marks match. Secure covers.
