Function Description

The Zenith ZCS3552W is a combi fridge freezer designed for the short-term storage of fresh food and drinks in its fridge compartment, and for the freezing and long-term storage of commercially and freshly frozen foods in its freezer compartment. It operates using a completely environmentally friendly refrigerant, R600a. The appliance is intended for domestic household use only.

Usage Features

  • Thermostat Control: Operating temperatures are controlled by a thermostat knob with settings from 1 to 5 (5 being the coldest). The average fridge temperature should be around +5°C (+41°F).
  • Storage Compartments:
    • Fridge: Includes cabinet shelves, a defrost water collection channel, salad crisper cover, salad crisper, door shelf, and bottle shelf.
    • Freezer: Features a fast freeze compartment and frozen foods storage drawers. It is 4-star rated, suitable for freezing fresh food and storing pre-frozen food.
  • Ice Cube Making: Fill the ice cube tray 3/4 full with water and place it in the freezer.
  • Door Reversing: The appliance doors can be reversed to open from the opposite side, requiring specific steps involving removing hinges and reattaching them.
  • Adjustable Feet: Two front feet can be adjusted to ensure the appliance stands upright and to minimize vibration and noise.
  • Food Storage Guidelines:
    • Cooked dishes should be stored in airtight covered containers.
    • Fresh wrapped produce can be placed on shelves; fruits and vegetables in crisper bins.
    • Raw meat should be wrapped in polythene bags and placed on the lowest shelf, separate from cooked food.
    • Hot food and beverages must cool before being placed in the fridge.
    • High-proof alcohol should be stored upright in sealed containers.
    • Certain fruits and vegetables (pineapples, melons, cucumbers, tomatoes) should be wrapped in polythene bags if kept near 0°C.
    • Frozen food should not be thawed at room temperature; slow thawing in the fridge is recommended.
    • Food should always be wrapped to avoid contact with appliance surfaces.
    • Do not freeze fizzy drinks or exceed the maximum freezing load of 3.5 kg in 24 hours.

Maintenance Features

  • Defrosting:
    • Fridge Compartment: Automatic defrosting. Defrost water runs to a collection container at the back. A pipe-cleaner or plastic plunger can be used to clear the drain tube if blocked.
    • Freezer Compartment: Manual defrosting recommended twice a year or when frost reaches about 7 mm (1/4"). Switch off, unplug, wrap food in newspaper, and store in a cool place. Warm water containers can be used to speed up defrosting. Do not use sharp objects, knives, forks, hairdryers, or electrical heaters for defrosting.
  • Cleaning:
    • Switch off and unplug the appliance before cleaning.
    • Use lukewarm water with a solution of bicarbonate of soda (one teaspoon to one pint of water) to clean the interior.
    • Wipe the cabinet with lukewarm water.
    • Do not use sharp instruments, abrasive substances, soap, household cleaner, detergent, or wax polish.
    • Ensure no water enters the temperature control box.
    • Clean the condenser at the back of the appliance annually with a vacuum cleaner.
    • Regularly check and clean door seals.
    • Clean the special plastic drain tray at the back of the appliance.
    • Door trays and freezer drawers are removable for cleaning.
  • Light Bulb Replacement: To change the interior light bulb/LED, contact an Authorized Service Agent. The lamp is not suitable for household room illumination.
  • Long-term Storage: If not used for a long period, switch off, remove all food, clean, and leave the door ajar.

Safety Information

  • Ensure the appliance is earthed and connected to a suitable switched and fused socket.
  • Do not damage the cooling circuit/pipes during transportation or use.
  • In case of damage to the cooling circuit, do not expose the appliance to fire, ventilate the room, and contact local authorities for disposal.

  • Do not store poisonous or dangerous substances in the appliance.
