This document describes the ZETR 13-FRE Flush Fire Rated Enclosure, an accessory designed for flush-mounted electrical outlets and switch grids. It is intended for installation in conjunction with ZETR 13-FMA/AMA components.

Function Description

The 13-FRE Flush Fire Rated Enclosure provides a fire-rated housing for ZETR's flush-mounted electrical devices. Its primary function is to maintain the fire integrity of a wall or substrate where an electrical outlet or switch grid is installed, ensuring safety in fire-rated constructions. The enclosure is designed to integrate seamlessly with the ZETR 13 series, allowing for a minimalist, flush finish.

• Pre-Fabrication Steps:
  • Loosening Dovetail Washers: The installation begins by loosening four dovetail washers within the mounting assembly using a 2.5mm Allen key. This allows the inner shroud to move freely within the mesh frame.
  • Securing to Substrate: The fire-rated shroud and mounting assembly are secured to the back of the substrate using mechanical fasteners. The manual advises consulting a substrate fabricator or contractor for the best fastening method.
  • Cable Threading: Cables are pulled through the fire-rated shroud and mounting assembly.
• Post-Fabrication Steps:
  • Template Alignment: A template is used to align the center of the desired outlet/switch grid location, marking the left and right hole centers.
  • Hole Cutting: Two holes are cut based on the markings, with two straight cuts connecting them tangentially at the top and bottom. The manual strongly recommends laser, waterjet, or CNC cutting for precision.
  • Flange Preparation: Large flanges on the 13-FRE are snapped off by bending them back and forth with pliers.
  • Cable Pull-Through: Cables are pulled through the prepared hole cut-out and threaded through the fire-rated enclosure.
  • Enclosure Insertion: The fire-rated enclosure is inserted into the hole cut-out and lightly tapped into the wall to ensure a flush fit.
  • Mounting Assembly Insertion: The mounting assembly is inserted into the fire-rated enclosure and fastened to the fire-resistant plasterboard.

Maintenance Features

• Durability: The device is designed for long-term use, with safety guaranteed when instructions are followed.
• Repair/Replacement: If any part of the device is damaged prior to installation, it must be replaced or repaired by the manufacturer or a licensed service agent.
