Overview

This document describes the ZEWA Blood Pressure Monitor UAM-820BT, an arm-type digital monitor designed for adult indoor use. It measures blood pressure and heartbeat rate, and stores the results.

Function Description

The UAM-820BT utilizes the Oscillometric Measuring Method to detect blood pressure. Before each measurement, the unit establishes a "zero point" equivalent to atmospheric pressure and then inflates the cuff. During inflation, it detects pressure oscillations generated by beat-to-beat pulsatile activity to determine systolic and diastolic pressure, as well as pulse rate. The device is intended for non-invasive measuring and monitoring of arterial blood pressure on the arm. It is not suitable for continuous monitoring during medical emergencies or operations.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Display: 80x60mm Digital LCD display.

Usage Features

  • User Interface: Features an LCD display showing SYS (systolic), DIA (diastolic), Pul (pulse), current time, average value (AVG.3), low battery indicator, irregular heartbeat detection, heartbeat indicator, motion indicator, data pending to transmit, and Bluetooth icon.
  • Measurement Process:
    1. Cuff Placement: Remove jewelry, expose skin, and tie the cuff on the upper arm with the tube off-center toward the inner side of the arm, aligned with the little finger or artery mark. Ensure the cuff is snug but not too tight (one finger should fit).
    2. Positioning: Sit comfortably with the tested arm resting on a flat surface, elbow on a table, cuff at heart level, palm upwards. Sit upright and take 5-6 deep breaths.
    3. Initiating Measurement: When the monitor is off, press the START/STOP button to turn it on and begin the measurement.
    4. Zero Point Adjustment: The monitor adjusts to zero.
    5. Inflation and Measurement: The cuff inflates, and the device measures blood pressure and pulse.
    6. Result Display: Results are displayed and saved.
  • Data Management:
    • Record Storage: Stores a maximum of 60 records per user.
    • Recall Records: When the monitor is off, press and hold the START/STOP button to enter recall mode. Press again to view the average of the latest three records, or individual records sequentially.
    • Data Transmission: The Bluetooth symbol blinks during data transmission after measurement. If successful, the Bluetooth symbol lights up, and the transmit icon disappears. If transmission fails, the transmit icon disappears.
    • Deleting Records: All results can be deleted via the accompanying app.
  • Pairing with Device:
    1. Turn on Bluetooth and the app on your device.
    2. When the monitor is OFF, press and hold the START/STOP button to start pairing. The LCD will show "+" alternatively.
    3. Upon successful pairing, the LCD will show "+[]". If pairing fails, it will show "+E12".
    4. The monitor turns off after pairing.
  • Error Messages and Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive list of error messages (E01, E02, E03, E04, E12, EExx) and warning messages ("out") with corresponding symptoms, checks, and remedies.
  • Patient Guidance: Includes tips for accurate measurement, such as resting for 5 minutes before measurement, waiting 3 minutes between measurements, measuring in a silent room, relaxing, not moving or talking, maintaining cuff at heart level, sitting comfortably with feet flat, and measuring at the same time on the same arm for consistent comparison.
  • Irregular Heartbeat Detector: The monitor detects irregular heartbeats by analyzing pulse intervals. If significant variations are detected, an irregular heartbeat symbol appears.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: Use a soft cloth to clean the unit before and after use. Do not use abrasive or volatile cleaners. Avoid touching water.
  • Storage: Store in a dry room, protected from extreme moisture, heat, lint, dust, and direct sunlight. Do not place heavy objects on the storage case.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the "Lo" symbol appears, the display dims, or the display does not light up. Do not mix new and used batteries or different types. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period. Dispose of worn batteries according to local recycling guidelines.
  • Cuff Care: Avoid washing the cuff.
  • Environmental Considerations: Avoid intense shaking and collisions, and dusty or unstable temperature environments.
  • Calibration: The device does not require calibration within two years of reliable service. Performance checks are recommended every 2 years and after maintenance/repair.
  • Service: Do not open or repair the device yourself. Contact authorized sales/service centers for malfunctions.
  • EMC Guidance: The device requires special precautions regarding EMC and should be installed and used according to the provided EMC information. Avoid using mobile phones or other devices that emit electromagnetic fields near the unit.
