4 Installing the turbocharger
4.1 Fastening RR turbocharger to exhaust gas pipes
RR turbochargers are fastened directly to the exhaust gas pipe of the engine. The turbochar-
ger is fastened to the gas inlet flange or gas outlet flange of the turbine casing (see follow-
ing illustration).
¡ Use heat resistant screws the strength of which is sufficient to withstand the temperat-
ures that can occur (R
p02
> 590 N/mm

, for example Nimonic 90).
¡ Apply heat resistant grease to the threads.
