Overview

The Abrites Diagnostics for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep is a comprehensive Windows PC-based professional diagnostic software and hardware ecosystem designed for vehicles within the Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep group. This system enables users to perform a wide range of vehicle-related tasks, including diagnostic scanning, key programming, module replacement, ECU programming, and configuration and coding. The hardware and software products are developed, designed, and manufactured by Abrites Ltd., adhering to high safety and quality standards to ensure optimal production quality and a coherent operational ecosystem.

Function Description

The core function of the Abrites Diagnostics system is to provide complete diagnostic operations for all CAN-based vehicles from the Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep group. This includes functionalities often unsupported by producer diagnostic testers. The software offers both standard diagnostic functions and specialized functions.

Standard diagnostic functions encompass:

  • Reading/Clearing Fault Codes (DTC): Users can identify and clear diagnostic trouble codes to resolve vehicle issues.
  • Scanning Available Devices: The system can scan and list all available devices within the vehicle, allowing for targeted diagnostics.
  • Displaying Actual Values (Measured Parameters): Real-time data from various vehicle parameters can be monitored, providing insights into the vehicle's operational status.
  • Performing Actuator Tests: Users can activate and test various actuators to verify their functionality.

Special functions extend the system's capabilities to include:

  • Key Learning (Immobilizer SKIM): This function allows for the programming and erasing of ignition keys, which are crucial for the Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIM). The SKIM system prevents unauthorized vehicle operation by disabling the engine if an invalid key is used. It utilizes ignition keys with embedded electronic chips (transponders). Only programmed keys can start and operate the vehicle beyond a two-second validation period. The system also provides feedback through the Sentry Key Indicator light and the Theft Alarm Light, signaling issues like invalid keys, communication failures, or electronic faults. A four-digit PIN is required to service the SKIM system, which the Abrites Diagnostics can read from the SKIM module if the user does not have it.
  • Mileage Recalibration: This feature allows for the adjustment of odometer values.
  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) Reading/Writing: Users can read and write data to the engine control unit, facilitating various programming and modification tasks.
  • Dump Tool: This special function is used to calculate odometer values, display PIN codes, and perform other data manipulations based on the EEPROM dump from the corresponding control unit. The dump file can be read via OBDII or with a programmer. After modifications, the resulting dump can be saved and written back to the device. The tool also addresses potential byte order issues from different programmers by providing a "Swap bytes" button.

The Abrites Diagnostics for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep interface supports K-Line, CAN-BUS, and J1850 interfaces, with diagnostics performed via the OBD-II connector. For newer Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles, users are directed to consult the Abrites Diagnostics for Fiat/Alfa/Lancia/FCA manual.

Usage Features

The software is designed for trained and experienced users with a good understanding of vehicle electronic systems and potential hazards. The user interface lists all available devices in the car, allowing connection to a specific device by double-clicking or selecting it and pressing the "Connect" button.

For key programming, a specific procedure must be followed:

  1. Initiate the "Program Keys" function.
  2. Insert the first valid key into the ignition, turn it On for 3-15 seconds, then turn Off and remove.
  3. Insert the second valid key, switch ignition On within 15 seconds. After 10 seconds, a chime sounds, and the Theft Alarm Light flashes. Turn Off and remove the second key.
  4. Insert a blank Sentry Key, switch ignition On within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds, a single chime sounds, the Theft Alarm Light stops flashing, turns On for 3 seconds, then turns Off. The new Sentry Key and Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter are programmed. This process can be repeated for up to 8 keys.

To erase keys, the "Erase Keys" function is used to remove all available keys from the system's memory, preventing lost keys from starting the vehicle. All remaining keys must then be reprogrammed.

The "Dump Tool" requires loading an EEPROM dump file, either through OBDII or a programmer. Users can then make modifications and save the resulting dump, which can be written back to the device. Attention to byte order is crucial, and a "Swap bytes" button is provided to correct discrepancies from different programmers.

Maintenance Features

The Abrites hardware products come with a two-year warranty, provided they are properly connected and used according to instructions. In case of malfunction, users can claim warranty within the stated terms. Abrites Ltd. may require evidence of the defect to decide on repair or substitution.

The warranty does not cover damages or defects caused by natural disasters, misuse, improper use, unusual use, negligence, failure to follow instructions, device modifications, or repairs by unauthorized persons. Examples include damage from incompatible electricity supply, mechanical or water damage, fire, flood, or thunderstorms. Each warranty claim is individually inspected.

For technical difficulties, users can contact the Abrites Support Team via email. Safety information emphasizes blocking vehicle wheels, caution around electricity, avoiding sparks/flames near fuel systems or batteries, working in adequately ventilated areas, and not using the product where combustibles could ignite.
