Overview

This document is a user guide for an Acer LCD Monitor, providing comprehensive information on its safe operation, features, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Acer LCD Monitor is designed for video and visual display of information from electronic devices. It supports various input sources such as VGA, HDMI1.4, and DisplayPort (DP), allowing for flexible connectivity with different computer systems. The monitor is equipped with a universal power supply, enabling operation in both 100/120 V AC and 220/240 V AC voltage areas without manual adjustment. It also features Display Data Channel (DDC) protocol support, allowing for plug-and-play functionality where the monitor automatically communicates its capabilities, including supported resolutions and timing, to the host system. The monitor supports the DDC2B standard.

Usage Features

The monitor offers a range of features aimed at enhancing user experience and comfort:

Screen Position Adjustment: The monitor provides several ergonomic adjustments to optimize viewing comfort:

  • Height Adjustment: The monitor's height can be adjusted by pressing down on the top of the monitor.
  • Tilt: The screen can be tilted within a range of -5° to 25° (recline at the highest point).
  • Swivel: With its built-in pedestal, the monitor can be swiveled 45° in either direction for comfortable viewing angles.
  • Monitor Pivot: The display can be rotated clockwise or counter-clockwise up to ±90° after being lifted to its top position and pushed back to the utmost degree.

Power Saving: The monitor incorporates a "Power Saving" mode, indicated by an amber-colored power LED. This mode is activated by a control signal from the display controller and remains active until a control signal is detected or the keyboard/mouse is activated. The recovery time from Active OFF state to ON state is approximately 3 seconds.

User Controls (OSD Menu): The monitor features an On-Screen Display (OSD) menu, accessible via a joystick-like toggle button on the backside of the display bezel, which allows users to adjust various settings:

  • Main Page: Provides quick access to Hot Keys and the Main Menu.
  • Hot Key1 (Default: Standard Mode): Allows selection of scenario modes (sRGB, Reading, Darkroom, User, Standard, ECO, Graphics, Movie) and quick adjustments for Brightness, Volume, Gamma, Contrast, Blue Light, and Over Drive.
  • Hot Key2 (Default: Brightness): Directly opens the Brightness control for adjustment.
  • Hot Key3 (Input Switch Hot Key): Facilitates switching between input sources (VGA IN, HDMI1.4, DP, or Auto Source).
  • Picture Settings:
    • Brightness: Adjusts screen brightness from 0 to 100.
    • Contrast: Adjusts screen contrast from 0 to 100, balancing light and dark areas.
    • Black Boost: Adjusts black levels from 0 to 10, enhancing shadows without affecting lighter shades.
    • Blue Light: Filters out blue light (80%, 70%, 60%, or 50%) to protect eyes. A lower value provides better protection, with 50% being the optimal state tested by TÜV Rheinland.
    • ACM (Adaptive Contrast Management): Turns dynamic contrast adjustment on or off based on the current screen content.
    • Super Sharpness: Enhances image sharpness by boosting pixel density.
    • Auto Config, H. Position, V. Position, Focus, Clock: These settings are available for fine-tuning the display.
  • Color Settings:
    • Gamma: Adjusts luminance tone, with a default of 2.2 (standard for Windows).
    • Color Temperature: Offers presets like Cool, Normal, Warm, Bluelight, or User-defined.
    • Modes: Allows selection of scenario modes.
    • sRGB: Enables or disables sRGB mode for better color matching with peripheral devices.
    • Grayscale Mode: Selects grayscale display.
    • 6-axis Hue and Saturate: Fine-tunes the hue and saturation for red, green, blue, yellow, magenta, and cyan.
  • Audio Settings:
    • Volume: Adjusts the audio output volume.
    • Mute: Toggles audio mute on or off.
  • Performance Settings:
    • Over Drive: Selects Off, Normal, or Extreme for response time.
    • Adaptive Sync (HDMI1.4/DP): Enables or disables VESA Adaptive SYNC, allowing the graphics source to dynamically adjust the display refresh rate for stutter-free and low-latency updates.
    • Refresh Rate Num: Displays the panel's current refresh rate.
  • OSD Settings:
    • Language: Sets the OSD menu language.
    • OSD Timeout: Adjusts the delay before the OSD menu turns off.
    • Transparency: Sets the OSD menu transparency (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, or 80%).
    • OSD Lock: Locks or unlocks the OSD controls. When locked, an "OSD Locked" message appears, and the LED light changes from blue to orange. To unlock, press the "Navi Key" in the middle for more than 3 seconds.
  • System Settings:
    • Input: Manually selects the input source (VGA IN, HDMI1.4, DP).
    • Auto Source: Automatically searches for a signal source (default "On").
    • Wide Mode: Selects screen aspect ratio (Aspect or Full).
    • Hot Key Assignment: Customizes the functions of shortcut keys 1 and 2.
    • DDC/CI: Allows monitor settings to be controlled via software on the PC.
    • HDMI Black Level: Sets the HDMI1.4 black level.
