Chapter 5 • Metrology Functionality
Power Quality Measurements
The SGM1400-B Series meters are capable of supporting power quality events
and functionality including over/under voltage, sags or swells, over/under
frequency, over current, and power factor. The meter may be configured to
perform the following when the threshold parameters are met for over/under
voltage, sags or swells, over/under frequency, and over current events:
• Update the event log
• Open the load switch
• Send an alert to the headend
For power factor events, the meter may be configured to update the event log or
send an alert to the headend when the threshold parameters are met.
The configuration of these power quality events are described in more detail in the
following sections.
Over Voltage/Under Voltage
The SGM1400-B Series meter includes support for two over voltage and two
under voltage thresholds. The over/under voltage thresholds will be configurable
along with the duration to activate the event.
The following parameters are configurable:
• Two upper voltage thresholds limits for the over voltage events (1st
threshold and extreme threshold)
• Two lower voltage thresholds limits for the under voltage events (1st
threshold and extreme threshold)
• The duration for which the threshold limit must be exceeded to trigger the
event (voltage under/over monitoring period)
