The ADA T100S is an all-tube stereo guitar power amplifier designed for use with guitar component systems, such as the ADA MP-1 MIDI TUBE PREAMP and SPLIT-STACK SPEAKER CABINETS. Its primary function is to preserve the tone and fidelity from a guitar, preamp, and effects units, while delivering warm, clean tube power to speaker cabinets.

Usage Features

The T100S is optimized for use with guitar speaker cabinets and features high voltage regulation to produce clean transient response and protect tubes. It is a portable, lightweight design, weighing only 27 pounds, and can be rack-mounted with an optional tail mount kit.

Setup:

Speaker Impedance Matching: It is crucial to match the speaker system's impedance to the power amplifier for optimal performance and to prevent overheating or blown fuses. The overall impedance of all speakers on a channel is what the amplifier "sees."
- The T100S has separate output impedance selectors for 4, 8, or 16 ohms per channel. These should be set to match the overall impedance of your speaker array for each channel.
- For multiple cabinets per side, refer to the speaker configuration diagrams (Diagrams A-E on page 5, Diagram F on page 6) to determine the overall impedance.
- A single 16 ohm speaker has an impedance of 16 ohms.
- Two 16 ohm speakers in series have a total impedance of 32 ohms (16 + 16).
- Two 16 ohm speakers in parallel have a total impedance of 8 ohms (1/2 x 16).
- Four 16 ohm speakers in parallel have a total impedance of 4 ohms (1/4 x 16).
- The ADA SPLIT-STACK speaker cabinet uses two 16-ohm speakers wired in parallel, resulting in an 8-ohm load. These cabinets offer parallel and series extension ports for various impedance configurations.
Input Connections: Connect stereo inputs on the rear panel of the T100S to the line level outputs of your preamp or effects device.
Mono Operation: If running in mono, connect only one input cable to the T100S. Set the input attenuator to "0" on the unused channel. The T100S will automatically shut down power to the unconnected channel; no dummy load is required. The T100S cannot be used as a bridged-output amplifier.
Speaker Cables: Use 12 to 16 gauge speaker cables to connect the T100S outputs to the inputs of your speaker cabinets. If using one mono speaker cabinet, do not connect anything to the unused output from the T100S.
Power-Up Sequence: Before turning on the T100S, ensure the front panel volume attenuators are in a fully counter-clockwise position. Power up your system in the order of signal flow: Preamp first, then Power amp last.
Power-Down Sequence: To shut down your system, turn volume attenuators down and use the reverse procedure: Power amp first, then Preamp last.

Precautions:

Fire/Shock Hazard: Do not expose the appliance to rain or moisture.
Electric Shock: Do not remove the cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
Tube Warm-up/Cool-down: To prolong tube life, let the T100S warm up in standby mode for at least one minute before use. Before turning the T100S off, let it cool in standby mode for at least one minute.

Maintenance Features

Tube Replacement: With proper care, the tubes in the T100S will provide many hours of performance. When the amp becomes microphonic and/or noisy, it's time to replace the tubes.
- Only ADA replacement tubes should be used.
- Tubes must be replaced as a set per channel.
- Procedure:
  1. Disconnect A.C. power.
  2. Let the T100S cool with power turned off for one minute to allow capacitors to discharge.
  3. Remove the top cover plate.
  4. Carefully pull spring-connected tube retainers off the top of the tubes and let them rest against the side.
  5. Pull tubes from their sockets and plug in the new ADA tubes.
  6. Carefully pull tube retainers into position.
  7. Replace the top cover and screws.
- Caution: Tubes are fragile; handle them with care.
- To order a matched set of ADA tubes, contact an Authorized ADA Dealer.
Warranty: The T100S comes with a one-year parts and labor warranty (90 days on tubes). It is important to fill out and return the enclosed warranty card to ADA.
