Do you have a question about the ADJ ENCORE BURST UV IP and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The ADJ Encore Burst UV IP is a high-intensity, IP65 outdoor-rated UV wash fixture designed for professional use. It is constructed with a rugged die-cast housing, making it suitable for temporary outdoor installations. The fixture features a UV LED with a wavelength of 365nm, providing a powerful ultraviolet light output.

Function Description

The Encore Burst UV IP serves as a UV wash fixture, emitting high-intensity ultraviolet light. It is controllable via DMX-512 protocol, offering multiple DMX channel modes (1, 2, 3, or 6 channels) to suit various control setups. The fixture includes selectable dimming curves, allowing for precise control over the light intensity and fade characteristics. Users can choose from different dimming modes such as Standard, Stage, TV, Architectural, Theatre, and Stage 2, each with adjustable dimming speeds ranging from 0.1 to 10 seconds. A strobe effect and pulse control are also integrated, providing dynamic lighting options.

The fixture features an adjustable LED refresh rate, with options from 900Hz to 25000Hz, which helps prevent flickering when used with cameras or video equipment. Gamma settings are also adjustable (2.0-2.8) for fine-tuning the light output. For enhanced control and monitoring, the Encore Burst UV IP supports Remote Device Management (RDM), allowing for remote management, modification, and monitoring of device settings, including DMX address and temperature sensors. This is particularly useful for fixtures installed in hard-to-reach locations.

Usage Features

The Encore Burst UV IP is equipped with a 4-button LED menu system and an OLED display, making it easy to navigate and adjust settings directly on the unit. The menu allows users to set the DMX address, select DMX channel modes, and configure the fixture's behavior in case of DMX signal loss (Hold Last, Blackout, or Manual mode). The display also offers blackout and lock functions to prevent accidental changes.

For installation, the fixture comes with an Omega Bracket and a scissor yoke, providing versatile mounting options. It can be mounted to a truss using appropriately rated professional-grade rigging clamps and an M10 or M12 screw. A built-in rigging point is provided for a secondary safety cable, which is crucial for suspended installations to ensure the fixture does not fall if the primary clamp fails.

The IP65 rating signifies that the fixture is protected against dust ingress (level 6) and low-pressure water jets from any direction (level 5), making it suitable for temporary outdoor use. All connections are IP65-rated, including 5-pin DMX In/Out and power locking In/Out, which come with protective rubber caps. To maintain the IP65 integrity, all unused connection rubber caps must be sealed, and only IP65-rated power and data cables should be used. The power linking capability allows up to 7 units to be daisy-chained together, simplifying power distribution in multi-fixture setups.

Maintenance Features

The manual emphasizes the importance of regular maintenance to ensure proper function, optimized light output, and an extended life for the fixture. Frequent cleaning is recommended, with the frequency depending on the operating environment. The external lens surface should be cleaned periodically with a soft cloth to prevent dirt and debris accumulation. It is crucial to avoid using alcohol, solvents, or ammonia-based cleaners.

For internal maintenance, the manual outlines a 30-day inspection schedule. This includes checking optics, cleaning the chassis, and inspecting all moving parts if applicable. For IP65 integrity, all connections and end caps should be properly sealed with dielectric grease to prevent water corrosion and electrical short circuits. Annual replacement of both vent valves is recommended to prevent contamination and clogging, which can lead to improper venting of humidity within the luminaire.

The manual also highlights the importance of routine inspections by an approved electrical engineer every three months to check circuit contacts and prevent overheating. All screws and fasteners must be securely tightened, and the housing, color lenses, rigging hardware, and rigging points should be checked for any deformations. Any damage to these components could compromise the IP65 rating or lead to the fixture falling. Electric power supply cables should also be inspected for damage, material fatigue, or sediments.

In the event of maintenance requiring the opening of the fixture, an ADJ IP Tester should be used to confirm the IP65 integrity after reassembly. The manual also provides warnings regarding potential internal fixture damage from external light sources, advising against exposing the fixture's front lens to direct sunlight, other lighting, or lasers during unpacking, installation, use, and extended idle times outdoors.
