Adjusting tho pressor foot lift
The presser foot lift is set at the works according to the use to which
this sub-class is going to be put. For stitching e it her c,ctremcly thin or
extreme ly thick miJtcrii:1ls the presser foot lift has to be odjusted ns
follows:
1. Adjus t the li£t a ccording to tho thickne-u of tho m:uoriol.
The pres:;er foot should raise no higher above the mate rial to be
sown than necessary to allow the motcr ial to move freely.
2. Slac ken the presser foot li ft l ocknut 17, fig. 1, by turning it anti·
clockwise.
3. Turn the presser foot lift adjusting screw 22
clockwise for increased presser foot lift, or
anti-clockwise for reduc ed presser foot lift.
4. Tighten the l ocknut 17.
Prcparntion for sowing and actual oporotion
1. Tho voltngo on the current meter must tally w ith the details given
on the motor plate.
2. Plug in to mains.
3. Start the motor by mc.1ns of thn sw i tch on the front righthand side
of the stond .
4. The articu lornd presser foot has the task of preventing the two-way
sh ifting of tho motcrial. Tho articul.ited movement is brought obout
by turning the screw 24, fig. 1, anti-c lo ckwise . As the sewing speed
increases, it becomes advisable to dis.continue the articulated
movement and to uso tho presser foot as o fixed prossor foot. Th is
is done by turnin!] the screw 24 c lockwise; the upward and
downward mOvC!mC!n t, too, is dh: co n t inucd by turning the 5erow 22
ant i-c lockwise, sec also section 'Adjusting the pre!.Ser foot li ft' .
5. Pull the bobb in thread up while ho l ding the ne edle thre ad and
rotating the hondwhce l once in iJ fon.vard di rec tion.
6. Lift the presser foot by means of the lifting l ever 18 or of tho
righthand pcdil l. ..
7. Pin.co both threads rearwards un derneath the presser foot.
8. Place tho motcrinl to be sewn undcrncoth tho pres s er foot ; I OW(!r
the prusscr foot.
9. Depress the lchhand pedal. Tho machine will now saw.
The furth er the peda l is depressed, the faster the sowing s peed of the
machine. Check tho direction of ro t ation of the machine; tho
ham:fwhecl shou ld rotate towards the operator.
10 . Allow the ma chin e to run without material only with the presser
foot raised.
11. After sew i ng switch tho motor off.
