8.1.7 Component Failure
Every QUASAR M8100-EXP is thermally cycled between 40 °F (4 °C) and 120 °F (50 °C) for a
minimum of 48 hours during the pre-calibration procedure. Each detector is independently
burned in until a stable output is achieved. Inspection and quality control procedures assure the
highest standard of component reliability. However, electronic components do fail occasionally
and may cause your instrument to function improperly.
Changing components in the field may require your unit to be re-calibrated by the factory.
Other than fuses, replacement of PC board components is strongly discouraged and may
compound the problem and void the system’s warranty.
In applications where the operation of the system is critical, it is recommended that you
purchase an additional Electro-Optical package as a backup for the in-service system.
