Function Description

The AEG BEB23101XM is a built-in electric oven designed for single household domestic use, primarily for cooking, baking, and roasting food. It features various heating functions to accommodate different cooking needs, including:

  • Off position (0): Turns the oven off.
  • Light: Turns on the oven lamp.
  • True Fan Cooking: Ideal for baking on up to two shelf positions simultaneously and drying food. It operates at temperatures 20-40 °C lower than Conventional Cooking.
  • Moist Fan Baking: An energy-saving function for baking with crispy bottoms and preserving food. The cavity temperature may differ from the set temperature, and heating power might be reduced.
  • Bottom Heat: Specifically for baking cakes with crispy bottoms and preserving food.
  • Fan Cooking: For roasting or roasting and baking food on more than one shelf position with the same cooking temperature, without flavour transference.
  • Turbo Grilling: Suitable for roasting large meat joints or poultry with bones on one shelf position, making gratins, and browning food.
  • Defrost: For defrosting food like vegetables and fruit, with defrosting time dependent on the amount and size of frozen food.
  • Conventional Cooking / Aqua Clean: For baking and roasting food on one shelf position. Also used for the Aqua Clean maintenance function.
  • Grill: For grilling thin pieces of food and toasting bread.

The oven also includes clock functions such as Time of Day, Duration (to set how long the oven works), and Minute Minder (a countdown timer that does not affect oven operation).

Maintenance Features

  • Before First Use: Requires removing all accessories and shelf supports, cleaning the oven with a microfibre cloth, warm water, and mild detergent, and then preheating the empty oven to maximum temperature for specific functions and durations (1 hour for one function, 15 minutes for two other functions).
  • General Cleaning:
    • Clean the front with a microfibre cloth, warm water, and mild detergent.
    • Check and clean the door gasket.
    • Use cleaning solution for metal surfaces and mild detergent for stains.
    • Clean the cavity after each use to prevent fat accumulation and fire risk.
    • Dry the cavity with a microfibre cloth after each use to reduce condensation.
    • Clean all accessories with warm water and mild detergent; do not use a dishwasher for accessories.
    • Avoid abrasive cleaners or sharp objects on non-stick accessories.
  • Aqua Clean Function: A humidity-based cleaning procedure to remove fat and food particles. Involves pouring 150 ml of water into the cavity embossment, setting the oven to the Conventional Cooking / Aqua Clean function, setting the temperature to 90 °C, letting it work for 30 minutes, then turning off and drying the cold cavity with a soft cloth.
  • Removing Shelf Supports: Pull the front and then the rear end of the shelf support away from the side wall. Reinstall in the opposite sequence.
  • Removing and Installing Door: The door has two glass panels that can be removed for cleaning. This involves lifting and pulling latches, closing the door halfway, lifting and pulling the door from its seat, releasing the internal glass panel's locking system, turning fasteners by 90°, and carefully lifting out the glass panel. Glass panels should be cleaned with water and soap, dried carefully, and not cleaned in a dishwasher.
  • Replacing Lamp: Turn off the oven, wait until it's cold, disconnect from mains, put a cloth on the bottom of the cavity, turn the glass cover to remove it, clean the glass cover, replace with a suitable 300 °C heat-resistant lamp, and install the glass cover.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a table for common issues like the oven not heating (check fuse), damaged door gasket (contact service), display showing "12.00" (power cut, set time), and lamp not working (lamp burnt out). For other issues, contact an Authorised Service Centre.
