Overview

This document serves as a user manual for AEG cooker hoods, specifically models DTB3653M, DTB3953M, DTB3654M, and DTB3954M. It provides comprehensive information on safety, installation, daily use, care, cleaning, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the appliance.

General Overview and Safety

The AEG cooker hood is designed for domestic use above hobs, cookers, and similar cooking devices in an indoor environment. It is suitable for single household use and can also be used in offices, hotel guest rooms, bed & breakfast guest rooms, farm guest houses, and other similar accommodations where usage levels do not exceed average domestic usage.

Safety Information: Before installation and use, it is crucial to read all supplied instructions carefully. The manufacturer emphasizes that they are not responsible for any injuries or damages resulting from incorrect installation or usage. The manual should be kept in a safe and accessible location for future reference.

Children and Vulnerable People Safety: This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above, as well as persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning safe use and understand the associated hazards. Children under 8 years of age and persons with very extensive and complex disabilities should be kept away from the appliance unless continuously supervised. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance. All packaging should be kept away from children and disposed of appropriately. Children and pets should be kept away from the appliance during operation. Children must not perform cleaning or user maintenance without supervision.

General Safety Precautions: Before any maintenance, the appliance must be disconnected from the power supply. Accessible parts may become hot during use with cooking appliances, so caution is advised. Only the fixing screws supplied with the appliance should be used; if not supplied, follow the recommended screws in the installation instructions. The appliance must be installed in a safe and suitable place that meets installation requirements.

Electrical Safety: Failure to install screws or fixing devices according to instructions may lead to electrical hazards. Adhesives should not be used to fix the appliance. The minimum distance between the hob surface and the lower part of the appliance must be at least 65 cm, unless otherwise specified in the installation instructions for the appliance or hob. All electrical connections should be made by a qualified electrician, ensuring that the parameters on the rating plate are compatible with the mains power supply. If the symbol is not printed on the rating plate, the appliance must be earthed. A correctly installed shockproof socket must always be used. The electricity mains cable should not be tangled, and multi-plug adapters or extension cables should not be used. If the mains socket is loose, the mains plug should not be connected. To disconnect the appliance, always pull the mains plug, not the cable. The shock protection of live and insulated parts must be fastened securely. Ensure the appliance is installed correctly, as loose or incorrect electricity mains cables can cause the terminal to overheat. The appliance should be connected at the end of the installation, ensuring access to the mains afterward. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its Authorized Service Centre, or similarly qualified persons to avoid electrical hazards. If the cord set is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord set available from the manufacturer or its Authorized Service Centre. If the appliance is connected directly to the power supply, the electrical installation must include an isolating device that allows disconnection from the mains at all poles, complying with overvoltage category III. The means for disconnection must be incorporated into the fixed wiring according to wiring rules.

Operational Safety: Do not flambé under the appliance. The appliance should not be used to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapours. Good air ventilation in the room where the appliance is installed is essential to prevent the backflow of gases from other fuel-burning appliances, including open fires. Ventilation openings must not be blocked, and the air collected by the appliance should not be conveyed into a duct used to exhaust smoke and steam from other appliances (e.g., central heating systems, thermosiphons, water-heaters). When the appliance operates with other appliances, the maximum vacuum generated in the room should not exceed 0.04 mbar. Do not change the specification of this appliance. Do not operate the appliance with wet hands or when it has contact with water. Only use accessories supplied with the appliance. Keep flames or heated objects away from fats and oils during cooking and frying. Do not use uncovered electric grills. Do not use the appliance as a storage surface. Do not use magnifying glasses, binoculars, or similar optical devices to look directly at the appliance's lighting. If the appliance works with other devices, the maximum developed pressure must not exceed 4 Pa (4x10-5 bar). This appliance is for cooking purposes only and should not be used for any other purpose.

Installation

Installation Instructions: For complete information regarding the installation of the appliance, refer to the separate installation booklet provided. Only a qualified person should install this appliance. Do not install or use a damaged appliance. Follow the installation instructions supplied with the appliance. Always take care when moving the appliance as it is heavy, using safety gloves and enclosed footwear. Before installation, remove all packaging, labeling, and protective film. Do not install the exhaust air into a wall cavity unless specifically designed for that purpose. The discharge of air must comply with local authority regulations.

Care and Cleaning

Notes on Cleaning: Regular cleaning is essential to maintain the appliance's appearance and performance.

  • Do not use abrasive detergents or brushes.
  • Clean the surface of the appliance with a soft cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent.
  • After cooking, some parts of the appliance can become hot. To avoid stains, the appliance must be cooled down and dried with a clean cloth or paper towels.
  • For cleaning agents, use a mild detergent for stains.
  • Clean the appliance and grease filters monthly, carefully removing fat from the interior and grease filters, as fat accumulation or other residue can cause fire.
  • Do not use a steam cleaner, water spray, harsh abrasive cleaners, or sharp metal scrapers to clean the surface of the appliance. Use only neutral detergents.
  • Clean grease filters regularly (at least every 2 months) and remove grease deposits to prevent fire risk.
  • Use a cloth to clean the interior of the appliance.

Cleaning the Grease Filter: Grease filters are mounted with clips and pins on the opposite side.

Replacing the Charcoal Filter:

  • Warning: The charcoal filter is non-washable!
  • The saturation time of the charcoal filter varies depending on cooking type and grease filter cleaning regularity. Activated charcoal filters cannot be regenerated and must be replaced approximately every 4-6 months, or more frequently with heavy usage.
