The AEG refrigerator is designed for household and similar applications, providing efficient cooling and food storage. It utilizes isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, a natural gas known for its high environmental compatibility. The appliance features a control panel for temperature regulation and includes a COOLMATIC function for rapid cooling of large quantities of warm food, which is particularly useful after grocery shopping. The refrigerator compartment is equipped with a DYNAMICAIR device that ensures rapid cooling and maintains a uniform temperature throughout the compartment. The fan associated with DYNAMICAIR operates when the door is closed and activates automatically when needed, such as when the internal temperature is high. It also works in conjunction with the COOLMATIC function for 6 hours.
The refrigerator's operation is managed via a control panel that includes an ECO mode icon, a temperature key, a temperature scale, and a COOLMATIC icon. To switch on the appliance, the user plugs it into an electrical socket and presses the temperature key until all LED indicators light up. After a few seconds, the display defaults to ECO mode, indicated by the corresponding LED.
Temperature regulation is straightforward: pressing the temperature key cycles through settings from +2°C (coldest) to +8°C (warmest), with ECO mode typically setting the temperature between +3°C and +4°C for optimal food preservation and energy efficiency. The display enters a sleep mode after 30 seconds of inactivity, with only the LED for the currently set temperature remaining dimly lit. Pressing the temperature key reactivates the full display.
The COOLMATIC function is activated by repeatedly pressing the temperature key until its LED illuminates, along with the +2°C indicator. This function automatically deactivates after 6 hours, restoring the previous temperature setting, but can be manually deactivated at any time. When COOLMATIC is active, the fan in the fridge compartment is also engaged.
An important safety feature is the door open indicator, which flashes the temperature key and current temperature LED if the door remains open for approximately 5 minutes. This indicator can be deactivated by closing the door or pressing the temperature key.
For food storage, it's recommended to cover or wrap food, especially items with strong flavors, and to position food on shelves to allow free air circulation, maintaining a minimum distance of 20 mm from the rear wall and 15 mm from the door.
Regular care and cleaning are essential for maintaining the appliance's performance and hygiene. Before any maintenance, the appliance must be deactivated and disconnected from the mains supply.
The interior and all internal accessories should be cleaned with lukewarm water and a neutral soap, then rinsed and thoroughly dried. Harsh detergents, abrasive powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners should be avoided as they can damage the finish. Door seals should be checked regularly and wiped clean to ensure they are free from debris. If accessible, the condenser and compressor at the back of the appliance should be cleaned with a brush to improve performance and save electricity.
Defrosting of the refrigerator compartment is automatic. Frost is eliminated from the evaporator whenever the motor compressor stops. The defrost water drains into a special container at the back of the appliance, where it evaporates. It is crucial to periodically clean the defrost water drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator compartment channel to prevent water overflow and dripping onto food.
The appliance contains hydrocarbons in the cooling unit, and any maintenance or recharging of this unit must only be performed by a qualified person. The drain of the appliance should be regularly examined and cleaned if blocked, to prevent defrosted water from collecting at the bottom.
In case of non-operation for extended periods, the appliance should be disconnected from the electricity supply, all food removed, and the interior and accessories cleaned. The door(s) should be left open to prevent unpleasant smells.
The appliance is equipped with a long-life LED interior light. If replacement is needed, only authorized service personnel should perform this task.
