Why is my Aercus WS2083 rain gauge over reporting rainfall?

  If your Aercus Weather Station's rain gauge is over reporting rainfall, it might be due to wind entering the gauge from underneath, causing the tipper mechanism to tip falsely. Mount the rain gauge on a flat surface or attach a plastic plate underneath to block the wind. Also, ensure that the sensor tree is securely mounted, as swaying in strong winds can also lead to false readings.

  If the wind speed on your Aercus Weather Station appears to be under reporting, it may be because the setting is on 'Average'. When set to Average, the wind speed is measured as the average speed recorded over a 48-second period, which can seem low in gusty conditions. To see the maximum wind speed during each 48-second period, change the setting to 'Gust'.

  If your Aercus Weather Station's rain gauge is under reporting rainfall or not recording it at all, remove the cover and inspect for obstructions like spider webs that might impede the tipper's motion. Manually tip the tipper back and forth; each tip should register as 0.3mm on the console. Keep in mind that the transmission interval is every 48 seconds, so allow enough time for the console to register the tips.

Lithium batteries are recommended in colder climates, as alkaline batteries can slow down and freeze, causing signal dropouts. Avoid using rechargeable batteries, as they often have a lower voltage than required and lose their peak charge quickly. Insert the batteries into the receiver last to force a proper resync. Make sure the transmitter is within range by testing it closer to the receiver. Remove and reinsert the batteries, and wait a few minutes to see if the signal is picked up.
