Overview

This document serves as an Installation & Operation Manual for Industrial Climate Engineering's AC Powered Cabinet Climate Control Air Conditioners, specifically models EC06HDNC1U and EC20HDNC1U. It provides comprehensive information on installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, warranty, and application. The manual emphasizes that all operations should be performed by professional engineers and technicians.

Function Description

The air conditioner's primary function is to cool data centers, outdoor telecom cabinets, and electronic and mechanical equipment shelters (E-Houses). It operates automatically based on the cabinet's internal temperature. A controller compares the cabinet's return air temperature, detected by an internal cycle temperature sensor, with a pre-set point. This comparison dictates whether the compressor or the fan operates.

The unit employs an internal cycle air path that absorbs hot air from the top of the cabinet and discharges cold air from the bottom. Concurrently, an external cycle air path draws in external cold air from the bottom and expels hot air from the top after heat exchange. This design ensures efficient climate control within the cabinet, even when ambient temperatures are low.

The system offers both cooling and heating control modes. In cooling mode, when the cabinet temperature reaches a set point (cooling stop point + sensitivity), the air conditioner increases its cooling output. Cooling ceases when the temperature drops below the cooling set point. For heating, the system activates when the internal cabinet temperature falls below a heating startup point (heating stop point - heating sensitivity) and stops when the temperature rises above the heating stop point. The heating function is optional.

The internal fan operates at a normal speed when the system is running normally. The external fan's speed is regulated by the condenser's temperature in cooling mode, increasing with higher temperatures and decreasing with lower temperatures. In air circulation mode, the external fan stops. The compressor's running speed is also dynamically adjusted based on the temperature difference between the return air and the set value, with higher differences leading to increased compressor speed.

Optional external fans can perform specific functions. A hydrogen exhaust fan can provide automatic cycle hydrogen discharging and forced ventilation, typically with a 24-hour interval and a 5-minute discharge time. Forced ventilation activates when the compressor lacks cooling capacity (due to failure or power loss) and the cabinet temperature exceeds a hydrogen discharging fan startup point by 5°C, and is 3°C higher than the outside temperature. An Emergency Fan (for EC06HDNC1U) starts under similar conditions, specifically when the cabinet temperature is 4°C higher than the outside temperature and exceeds its startup point. An Energy Saving Fan (for EC06HDNC1U) also activates when the cabinet temperature is 4°C higher than the outside temperature and exceeds its startup point.

The unit also features a self-testing function for onsite verification. This diagnostic process involves the indoor fan running for 30 seconds, the compressor and outdoor fan running for 3 minutes, followed by the compressor and outdoor fan stopping while the heater (optional) works for 2 minutes. Finally, the external fan (hydrogen discharging fan, etc.) runs for 2 minutes before stopping, and the unit resumes normal operation logic.

Usage Features

The air conditioner is designed for ease of use and monitoring. It features an intelligent control system and a dry contact and RS485 intelligent communication interface for remote monitoring and parameter adjustment. The unit's controller utilizes a 96x32 LCD with seven buttons for navigation and settings.

The user interface includes ON/OFF, Up, Down, Left, Right, ENTER, and ESC buttons. The ON/OFF button, when long-pressed, toggles the unit's power. The Up and Down buttons are used to select menus/records or adjust setting values (password-protected). The Left and Right buttons facilitate increasing/decreasing setting values or selecting digits during password entry. The ENTER button confirms selections, while ESC returns to the previous menu.

For security, the unit has a factory default operation password ("0001"). Users can change this password through the interface. If no keyboard activity occurs for 60 seconds, the display automatically reverts to the normal display interface. The backlight also turns off after 60 seconds of inactivity to conserve energy.

The unit provides comprehensive alarm information, which can be viewed on the display screen or accessed through the RS485 communication interface. Alarms remain active until the underlying issue is resolved. The system also supports a Door Magnetic Switch Signal (optional on EC20HDNC1U), which triggers an alarm and can stop the unit if the cabinet door is open.

Maintenance Features

Routine maintenance is crucial for ensuring the air conditioner's normal operation and maximizing its energy efficiency. All maintenance tasks must be performed by qualified professionals, with the power, communication, and alarm output cables disconnected before any work begins.

Key maintenance checks include:

  • Wiring: Visually inspecting for loose connections every 12 months.
  • Fan Abnormalities: Checking if the fan rotates smoothly and without abnormal noise every 12 months.
  • Drainage Tube: Visually inspecting for blockages in the drainage mouth every 6 months.
  • Condenser: Checking the cleanliness of the condenser and cleaning it with compressed air every 6 months.

The manual also includes troubleshooting guides for common fan faults and cooling system faults, providing symptoms, possible causes, and recommended remedies. This allows for efficient diagnosis and resolution of issues, contributing to the device's longevity and reliable performance.
