Recalling the Stored built-in Crossover
Settings

Press and hold MENU for at least 2 seconds.

Press MENU to select HPF/LPF.

Press the preset button (1 or 2) to which your
desired built-in crossover settings are assigned.

Press and hold MENU for at least 2 seconds to
return to normal mode, or press MENU and select
RETURN to return to normal mode.
The setting mode returns to normal mode if no buttons are pressed
within 15 seconds.
Equalizer Presets
10 typical equalizer settings are preset at the factory for a variety of
musical source material.

Press MENU to select Factory's EQ (P-EQ for CDA-
9830R).

Press either g or f.
With each press of the button, the equalizer mode will
display the selected equalizer characteristic.
FLAT(OFF) ROCK POPS JAZZ & BLUES (JAZZ)
ELECTRICAL (ELECTRIC) HIPHOP & RAP (HIPHOP)
EASY LISTEN (EASY) COUNTRY CLASSICAL
(CLASSIC) NEWS USER'S EQ 1,2 (USERS 1,2)
FLAT(OFF)

Press and hold MENU for at least 2 seconds to
return to normal mode, or press MENU and select
RETURN to return to normal mode.
This function is inoperable when DEFEAT is set to ON (page 16).
EQ mode is automatically cancelled if no buttons are pressed
within 15 seconds.
By selecting USER'S EQ 1 or EQ 2 (USERS 1 or USERS 2 for
CDA-9830R), you can recall the stored preset number in
"Adjusting and Storing the Equalizer Curve."
Adjusting and Storing the Equalizer Curve
You can modify the Equalizer settings to create a response curve more
appealing to your personal taste.

Press and hold MENU for at least 2 seconds.

Press MENU to select USER'S EQ (USERS for
CDA-9830R).

Press BAND/TEL. to select your desired
frequency band.
BAND1 BAND2 BAND3 BAND4 BAND1

Press g or f to select your desired
frequency.
Adjustable frequency bands:
BAND1 : 40Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz
BAND2 : 100Hz, 150Hz, 200Hz
BAND3 : 500Hz, 700Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz, 6kHz
BAND4 : 10kHz, 12.5kHz, 15kHz

Turn the Rotary encoder to adjust the level.

Press SOURCE/POWER to select your desired
band width (Q).
Adjustable band width:
BAND1 : 1.0, 2.0, 3.0,
BAND2 : 1.0, 1.5, 2.0
BAND3 : 1.0, 2.0, 3.0
BAND4 : 1.0 (fixed band width)
To store the adjusted curve
1) Press and hold, for at least 2 seconds, the preset
buttons (1 or 2) into which you wish to store the adjusted
curve.

To set another channel, repeat steps 3 to 6.

Press the Rotary encoder to confirm the
adjusted contents.
The adjusted contents are not stored if the Rotary encoder
is not pressed.

After setting, press and hold MENU for at least 2
seconds to return to normal mode, or press MENU
and select RETURN to return to normal mode.
EQ mode is automatically cancelled if no buttons are pressed
within 15 seconds.
This function is inoperable when DEFEAT is set to ON (page 16).
Recalling the Stored Equalizer Curve

Press and hold MENU for at least 2 seconds.

Press MENU to select USER'S EQ (USERS for
CDA-9830R).

Press either preset button (1 or 2) to activate
your desired curve.

Press and hold MENU for at least 2 seconds to
return to normal mode, or press MENU and select
RETURN to return to normal mode.
EQ mode is automatically cancelled if no operation is performed
within 15 seconds.
This function is inoperable when DEFEAT is set to ON (page 16).
•You can recall the adjusted equalizer curve from "Equalizer
Presets" (this page).
