Overview

The Altec Lansing Dual Motion Bluetooth Speaker is a versatile audio device designed for portable use, offering both wireless Bluetooth connectivity and wired audio input options. It features a compact design, making it easy to carry and use in various settings.

Function Description

The primary function of the Dual Motion Bluetooth Speaker is to provide high-quality audio playback from a variety of sources. It supports wireless streaming via Bluetooth, allowing users to connect their smartphones, tablets, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices. For devices without Bluetooth, a 3.5mm auxiliary input is available, enabling a wired connection.

Beyond music playback, the speaker also incorporates a hands-free speakerphone function. This allows users to answer, end, and redial phone calls directly through the speaker, enhancing convenience during phone conversations. The integrated microphone ensures clear communication during calls.

Powering the speaker is a built-in rechargeable battery, providing portability and eliminating the need for a constant power connection during use. The battery can be recharged using a standard USB cable, connecting to either a USB port on a computer or an AC charging adapter.

Usage Features

Powering On/Off: The speaker is equipped with an ON/OFF switch. Sliding this switch to the ON position powers the device, while sliding it to OFF powers it down.

Bluetooth Pairing: To initiate Bluetooth pairing, the user slides the ON/OFF switch to the ON position. The speaker automatically enters pairing mode, indicated by alternately flashing blue and red LED indicator lights. Users then navigate to the Bluetooth Manager on their device, search for "Dual motion," and select it to connect. If prompted, a PIN code of "0000" should be entered. Once successfully paired, the speaker will automatically connect to the Bluetooth device in the future.

Music Playback Control:

  • Play/Pause: A dedicated Play/Pause button allows users to start or stop music playback from their audio source.
  • Next/Previous Song: To skip to the next song or go back to the previous one, users press and hold the Volume + or Volume - buttons for approximately two seconds.
  • Volume Adjustment: Short presses of the Volume + or Volume - buttons allow users to increase or decrease the audio volume.

Phone Call Management:

  • Answering Incoming Calls: When a call comes in, a quick press of the Answer button will pick up the call.
  • Ending Calls: To disconnect an ongoing call, a quick press of the Answer button will end the conversation.
  • Last Number Redialing: Rapidly tapping the Answer button twice will redial the last number that was dialed from the connected phone.
  • Call Volume Adjustment: During a phone call, the Volume Up or Volume Down buttons can be used to adjust the call volume.

Wired Audio Input: For non-Bluetooth devices, the included 3.5mm auxiliary cable can be connected to the AUX IN port on the speaker and the audio output of the external device. This allows for direct wired audio playback.

LED Indicators: The speaker features LED indicator lights that provide visual feedback on its status. During Bluetooth pairing, they flash alternately blue and red. When charging, the lights turn red and switch off once fully charged.

Maintenance Features

Charging the Battery: The speaker's internal battery is recharged by connecting one end of the included USB cable to the charging port on the speaker and the other end to a USB port or an AC charging adapter (not included). The LED indicator light will turn red during charging and turn off when the battery is fully charged. A full charge typically takes up to three hours.

Cleaning: While not explicitly detailed in the provided manual, general maintenance for electronic devices typically involves keeping the speaker clean and free from dust and debris. It is advisable to use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning the exterior surfaces. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the speaker's finish.

Storage: When not in use for extended periods, it is recommended to store the speaker in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, which can affect battery life and overall device longevity.

Troubleshooting: The manual directs users to the Altec Lansing website (www.alteclansing.com) for technical support, including manuals, software, and FAQs. For direct assistance, a technical support phone number (1-855-292-4087) is provided.

Warranty Information: The product comes with a one-year warranty covering defects in material or workmanship under normal usage. This warranty ensures that the product will be repaired or replaced at no charge for parts or labor during the warranty period. The warranty does not cover damages resulting from misuse, unauthorized repairs, tampering, modification, or accidents. To obtain warranty service, users must contact Altec Lansing for problem determination and service procedures, providing proof of purchase.
