How to fix Amana AGS781 Ranges burners that won't ignite?

  If the burners on your Amana range won't ignite and there's no spark at the top burner, it could be due to a few reasons: 1. There might be a poor ground on the burner cap. Try cleaning the burner cap. 2. The spark module could be weak or has failed. Consider replacing the spark module. 3. There might be low gas pressure. Check the pressure, ensuring it's at 6" WCP for natural gas or 11" WCP for LP.

Why does my Amana AGS781 Ranges keep sparking after being turned off?

  If your Amana range continues to spark after it's turned off, it could be due to: * A shorted valve switch. Replace the switch. If excessive spillovers caused the shorting, make sure to properly care for it in the future. * The switch may have been pulled up and off its fixed position on the valve. Carefully reposition the switch on the valve, and rotate the valve from off to high several times to ensure the switch isn't broken.

What to do about intermittent sparking in Amana Ranges?

  If you're experiencing intermittent or occasional sparking after your Amana range is turned off, this is likely due to crossed polarity. To resolve this, with all spark switches in the "OFF" position, check for voltage at the "N" terminal of the spark module to ground. If voltage is present, the polarity is reversed. A qualified electrician should check the polarity at the wall socket.

Why is there no spark at ignitor on my Amana AGS781 Ranges?

  If there's no spark or only a random spark at one ignitor on your Amana range, it could be caused by: * A cracked ignitor or pinched ignitor wire, which is permitting current leakage. Replace the ignitor lead or electrode. * A bad ground connection or lack of continuity to ground or the ignitor. Tighten the ground connection and correct any breaks in the ground path from the ignitor path to the unit ground. * A cracked or broken ignitor extension lead. Replace the ignitor lead.
