Usage Features
Before First Use:
Before using the pie maker for the first time, it is crucial to unpack all parts and check for any damage. The appliance should be cleaned inside and out with a damp cloth or sponge and then wiped dry. The accessories (cover cutter, base cutter) should be washed with soapy water and thoroughly dried. The pie maker must be placed on a flat, solid, clean, dry, and heat-resistant surface, ensuring a minimum of 10cm free space around it. It should not be operated inside or under a wall cabinet. When first conditioning the cooking plates, apply a thin coating of cooking oil and rub it in with a paper towel after the appliance has heated up for approximately 5 minutes. During the first use, a small amount of haze and an odor may be emitted, which is normal and will subside.
Operation:
- Preparation: Roll out pastry and use the provided base and cover cutters to prepare pie bases and covers. Commercial short crust and puff pastry can also be used, with puff pastry recommended for the top and short-crust pastry for the base.
- Cleaning Baking Surfaces: Before each use, clean the baking surfaces with a damp cloth and dry with a paper towel.
- Preheating: Close the appliance and plug it into a mains power outlet. Both the red power indicator and green working indicator will light up, indicating that the pie maker is connected and preheating. The red light remains on until unplugged.
- Ready for Use: The pie maker takes approximately 3 minutes to reach the recommended baking temperature. The green working indicator will turn off when it is ready.
- Oiling Plates: Open the appliance and brush the baking plates with a small amount of vegetable oil.
- Filling Pies: Place the pastry base into the bottom baking plate, fill with pre-cooked ingredients (especially fresh meat or vegetables), then place the pastry cover and press the edges together.
- Cooking: Gently close the lid and secure it with the locking clip until it 'clicks'. Avoid slamming the lid to prevent mixture displacement. The green working indicator will light up again when a baking cycle starts.
- Baking Time: Baking time typically ranges from 5-8 minutes, varying with batter type and ingredients. For a darker pie, continue baking until the desired color is achieved.
- Important Note: Do not open the appliance during the first 2 minutes after filling to prevent splitting of under-baked pies and difficulty in removal.
- Removal: Always use a plastic or wooden spatula to remove pies to avoid damaging the non-stick coating. Never use sharp or metal objects.
- After Use: Disconnect the power plug from the mains power socket.
