SANITATION
AND MAINTENANCE
OF
SELF
-CONTAINED
WATER
SYSTEM
The
water
system
should
be
thoroughly
sanitized
before
use
and
after the
coach
has
been
stored for
extended
periods
of
time.
SAN
ITIZING
Commercial
prepared
sanitizing
solutions
are
available.
An
alternative
method,
using
household
bleach
(sodium
hypochloride)
recommended,
using
the
following
steps:
'
Add
one gallon
of sodium
hypochloride
to fifteen
gallons
of
water.
'
Fill
the water
tank
with the
prescribed
solution,
activate
the
water
pump and
open
all faucets
and water
outlets
to
insure
that
the entire
system
is filled.
v
Drive the
coach
approximately
ten
miles
and
allow the
solu-
tion
to remain
for four
hours.
~
Drain
the system
and
rell several
times
until
the chlorine
has
been
removed.
'
A
trace of chlorine
will
remain
in the
system
but will
not en-
danger your
health.
A solution
of
one quart
vinegar
to
five
gallons
water left
in the
system over
a period
of
three
or four
days will
remove
the undesirable
smell and
taste.
If the
vinegar
solution
is used, it
is advisable
to flush
the
system
liberally (4
or
5 times)
and
then fill with
fresh
water.
