Ride by wire
The vehicle is fitted with an innovative
throttle control system, called RIDE BY
WIRE, which ensures optimum engine
performance, at all times, taking into ac-
count the rider's demand, the general op-
erating conditions plus the external con-
ditions (atmospheric pressure, tempera-
ture). If compared with traditional
injection systems, it also allows an elec-
tronic control of the throttle, thus replac-
ing the traditional cable. When riding at
high altitudes, the RIDE BY WIRE system
offsets the unavoidable loss of power
(1% every 100 metres of slope due to the
reduced concentration of oxygen in the
air) by opening the throttle bodies. There-
fore, the engine performance when tor-
que demand is requested by means of
the throttle is the same as when riding on
level ground, thus shifting the character-
istic power reduction to the highest
speeds. As a result, throttles are fully
open but the throttle grip is not fully twis-
ted; therefore, in case the throttle grip is
further and fully twisted, the vehicle per-
formance will not be further enhanced.
Ride by wire
Het voertuig is uitgerust met een innova-
tief controlesysteem van de gashendel,
RIDE BY WIRE genaamd, zodat de mo-
tor op elk moment een optimaal gedrag
heeft, door rekening te houden met de
eisen van de bestuurder, met de algeme-
ne werkingscondities en met de externe
condities (atmosferische druk, tempera-
tuur). Het systeem kan vergeleken bij de
traditionele injectiesystemen een elektro-
nische controle uitvoeren, ook van de
gashendel, zodat de traditionele kabel
vervangen wordt. Bij het rijden op hoog-
tes compenseert het systeem RIDE BY
WIRE een omvermijdelijk vermogensver-
lies (1% elke 100 meter hoogteverschil
door de lagere zuurstofconcentratie in de
lucht), door te handelen op de opening
van de vlinderrompen. De reactie van de
motor op de vraag tot koppel, door middel
van de gashendel, is bijgevolg dezelfde
zoals wanneer op vlaktes gereden wordt,
door de natuurlijke vermogensverminde-
ring naar de maxima regimes te verplaat-
sen. De vlinders bevinden zich dus in de
positie 'helemaal open' wanneer de gas-
hendel niet helemaal gedraaid wordt;
wanneer nog aan de gashendel gedraaid
wordt, zullen de prestaties van het voer-
tuig dezelfde blijven.
